Re: Bb200 Waffle Thread.

Sounds like the masses will be heading to the Star Inn on Friday. Is anyone staying in Llanbrynmair? The Wynnstay Arms does bed and breakfast for £25. Is there a catch? Seems convenient and economical. http://www.wynnstayarmshotel.co.uk/html/bed___breakfast.html Searching the forum reveals something...

Re: Tyre Damage

Hey Sean, A bit late to the party, but just I'd mention something that helped me recently. I had a sidewall gash from a piece of flint on a fairly new tyre. I didn't want to bin the tyre so I decided to sew it up with floss and put a tyre patch over the thread on the inside so that I can keep runnin...

Re: Komoot

I paid the £19. The different terrain routing options have been working really well for me. I think they must be using heatmaps to guide the offroad routing and I've found it much better than other services so far.

Re: Chilterns route advice

Thanks of the info, will take a gander I will endeavour to make one of those Sunday rides, sounds just the type of riding I'd enjoy. Are these listed up somewhere online (anyway to jock my memory) I'm slowly regaining some strength in my wrist after a series of injuries so more drop bar riding righ...

Re: Chilterns route advice

Being cheeky but I'd be fair chuffed to see some more local routes (hopefully new to me) if it is not too much bother. Sure, happy to help. Easiest is for me to share some recent Strava tracks for you to have a look at. Recently we've been riding from Henley out the Ridgeway to the West Berkshire B...

Re: Chilterns route advice

I live and ride around the Chilterns, based in Henley. There are plenty of trails, but you kind of need to know them to link them together in a sensible way. I've got a bunch of routes gathered over the years I can email if you are interested. The others have mentioned Berkhamstead. I agree this a g...

Re: Refilling gas cannisters

Eeeesh, I don’t have the appetite for that level of gas hackery. I guess I will have to look at the other options. Such a shame as the canisters are not easily recycled. See advice from MSR here:

Re: Refilling gas cannisters

What are the donor cartridges? Those tall thin ones that look a bit like standard aerosol cans? Are they recyclable? Sounds interesting but I’m not keen to generate more landfill for the sake of saving a few quid. I am with you this. I was hoping for a way to refill the Coleman canisters from my 5k...

Could be he’s hit some snow? Although you’re right, josh does not seem to have slowed as much on the same section. I wouldn’t want to get caught at 10k ft tonight in those conditions!

Conditions in Northern Colorado (Steamboat) looking a bit sleety and cold. It's 2C in the village at 6900ft so must be snowing properly up higher at 10k. Sofi could begin circumnavigating Diamond Peak later today (local time), going to be some fresh white stuff up there at 3000m! https://www.steambo...

Tea Boy (Alex) is out. He posted earlier on his Facebook page, said he wasn't struggling in any way but was very, very bored. It's not for everyone I suppose. Wow, I’ve not ridden the TD, but based on everything I’ve seen and heard, I would not have expected to hear of someone quitting out of bored...

By the time wildlife specialists arrived at the illegal campsite, the bear had moved on . The bear is probably halfway to Mexico by now, fueled by the rush of scoffing the riders gel and bar stash.  But in all seriousness, it's a shame the rider was so careless and then reacted by hiding...

I'm guessing that it's not really feasible to just be following a line on a gps display for that duration of time It is completely feasible to do just that. I did it with an Edge 1000. I had it set up to give me an off-course warning so that if I missed a turn it would beep and wake me up! I can't ...

From the photos of Sofiane that have been posted on the bikepacking.net forum it looks like he's not wearing bib shorts (I thought these were the staple for all serious cyclists, and personally haven't done a proper ride in anything else for a very long time). Does anyone know if Mike's record dot is where he actually was at that time (a replay of the ride and will stop where Mike did) or is it based on an average speed and just keeps moving all the time? Sofi just doesn’t seem to need sleep. Same on the Italy Divide, but it clearly affects his pace as time goes on. I reckon they will reel him in over time.
