Re: E-Bike Threat
Out of interest, Bob, did you get a notification that the ride had been flagged? I've flagged other rides in the past that are blatantly bad GPS data or segments completed in a vehicle, but always wonder if the other person got to know about it... It was an email directly from one of the developers...

comfy (for me) and cheap. got them on all three bikes.I've also heard the Charge Spoon is a popular choice, but again, I have no real understanding of why.

Re: Alpamayo Bikepacking Gear
we didn't use the bar harnesses, Alpamayo made us custom frame bags, one for tom's surly and one for my transition bandit. we used wildcat bar harnesses and I used a wildcat seat pack. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn20/Jim_Gardiner/36A6C00A-F4EF-4914-A5D1-FD46F0880037_zpshs50feii.jpg looking a...

I know this isn't for rechargeables but it demonstrates the range in performance and expensive isn't always the best.

Re: Uk Divide Route?
Well, knowing ziltch about GIS instead I've taken a detailed topo, overlain the scottish watershed route (Cape Wrath Variant) and the UK river map, and roughly marked out the route of the Watershed. Then I tidied it up a bit. So, with the exception of the Scottish ending, this ought to be a half re...

Budget?
I've been really impressed with goretex pro as a material. I picked up a half price arcteryx beta from rock and run last year. Made the price almost reasonable.

Re: Strange bike gearing question...
It's for strength work on a turbo trainer; I've run out of gears with the 46 teeth I have, and I don't think 2 extra teeth gives me enough either, so 52 is my aim. I don't want to put a road bike on it as I want to get my body position as close to real world as possible when on the trainer. Maybe I...

Re: WTB Nanos
i quite like them (26x2.35). only place they don't really perform is on wet grass, all gets a bit speedway. In other news - I'd really avoid an Ikon on the front...unless it is really, really dry.
if it ever dries out they'll be going back on.

Re: Strange bike gearing question...
road BB cups are a slightly thinner than MTB but if the bike BB shell is 68mm then it shouldn't matter if its in a mtb or a road bike as long as you use a road BB.
if its a 73mm shell then you may be stuffed.

You mean this one. Mind blowing video, compounded by the fact he was 5th on that stage, Richie rude put nearly a minute into him I think.

Re: New to bike packing
I use a rucksack, mostly because packing space on my bike is limited and I don't want to change it. The alpkit Gourdon is good and cheap although a little flimsy. I've just got hold of a mountain equipment scrambler 30 which seems pretty good but I've yet to use in anger yet. Mountain hardware if m...

Do they ride up or are they designed to sit above?
My arcteryx beta's have a small clip/lace hook that stops them from riding up.

Re: New to bike packing
I had the 20. I broke it. Alpkit gave me a new one which my wife has got now. It's comfy but basically a dry bag with shoulder straps. Organisation was tricky.
New bag from ME is much much better put together and from sportpursuit wasn't that much more expensive
