Re: Downs 300 ITT

No, Richard. I'm going to ride to the start after work on Saturday afternoon (115km) and I'll carry sleeping kit so it won't be 'an ultralight in one go through the night' ITT.

Re: Downs 300 ITT

Hi Duncan,

Going to start early this Sunday/Monday from Henfield at km 132. Any last minute advice? Weather looks good, it should be dry.

Re: HONC on Sunday?

Well, the Hell of the North is over. Very bumpy, dry route, better for higher volume tyres (but then it wouldn't be that hell) but could have done with less pressure. Good day out riding. Met Steve at the start, mid point feed station and we finished within 3 minutes of each other. Didn't look like ...

I've just been offered an entry for it but it's a PITA to get there so I'll stick to the original plan of Surrey Hills.

Re: Tubolito Tubes

Oh no, tubolitos. Stay away! :???: I had them for the mtb and for the road gravel bikes and for me they are utter garbage. They aren't as tough as they claim, leak air around the valve area. Couldn't pump air at the BB300 and for the North Cape to Tarifa event last summer they quickly developed slow...

Re: Head torch recommendations?

Hi,

I use a Petzl Actik core. Light weight and still 350 lumens for an emergency. I bought this one because I can recharge the removable battery via standard USB cable or use AAA batteries instead

Re: Charge through power banks

I've had 3 zendure chargers, models A2 and A3. Contacted Customer Service when I had problems on the A3 and got replaced under warranty. When charging the A3 or using charge through we suggest using a 2 Amp or 10 Watt USB wall charger and not a PC or laptop. That was I was told, so I only plug it on...

Re: Big Bear group start next year?

Hi, I'm also looking at doing the Big Bear. Only problem is I have only 3 days in a row. Looking at the last 2 weekends in March and starting from Machynlleth, which gives me around 70 hours (counting sleeping) and train tickets are cheaper. Who is up for it? Edit to add that starting from Caersws g...

You could try to contact Shona and Rich, from Keep Pedalling bike shop in Manchester. I'm sure they can give you good advice.
Or you could buy the Ribble or Sonder and get forks separately.

Re: Pro roadies do bikepacking

Lee Craigie was a pro/elite athlete for Scotland, and she's an excellent bikepacker. I don't see anything wrong with being a pro rider who happens to like going on bikepacking adventures or a bit of long distance racing. Obviously, having those big engines and being surrounded by such different envi...

Hello!
Has anyone got a spare Toro or similar bar light I can borrow? Forgot mine at home and have no chance to recover it until maybe mid June (it's a long story, homeless until Sept)
Or a piggyback battery for the Equinox I'll be using?

Edit to add it's all sorted :-bd

At 5pm, just 12 km from The Squirrel, my right crank arm fell off and had to retreat to the nearest train station, Seer Green and Jordans.
I was following the route from Chalfont St Giles and at Hodgemoor Woods this happened.

A pitty, such a good afternoon!!

Re: HIghland Trail 550 - 2018

For the third year in a row I'm going with Maxxis Ikon protection in 2.35 size. Haven't tried others here than Continental, less reliable. Bontrager seem to be popular as well
Sean, I wouldn't trust worn out tyres. For batteries I use lithium ultimate.

Will it be a wet event this year?
