Re: USB Charging on tour

Depends on length of the tour I guess

Don't forget that a big battery pack reduces the number of times you need to stop and charge but you need to stop longer to charge

Re: Where are all the women?

i think we are looking at different lists . mines the may 2016 DOE list. its a suggestion rather than instructional . i think there are a few issues at play - poor education from the leaders as to requrements , Vigerous upselling by keen shop assistants and lack of knowledge/ignorance from parents. ...

Re: Where are all the women?

My wife is heavily involved in doe. I find it staggering the number of barriers put in place . (May just be local council orientated rather than doe mandates) First example is that they need 1 2day outdoors first aider per group even if they are all walking within sight and voice in the same area......

Re: longer distance audaxer etc types - aero bars

a simpler way to think about it would be - hands natural position.

you dont want to be straining the wrists for a long time to sit on S bends.

Dunno non of the old guard used to mind drafting me into a headwind. - I'd only ever use them on the front or on my own mind.

bar mitts pogies really are a godsend on drop bars

But over the years ive grown immune to my own funk. gloves now get washed when they are growing mushrooms or folk comment on the smell ...... ie at distance they reek.

I'm a big fan of the ragley Carnegie bars.. which are a wider mary with less rise Have recently moved to 680: loops on one bike and I'm not sure I like them on it over the Carnegie's. The Carnegie's are now on my singlespeed where they are still being vaguely exciting. Got a set of original titec h ...
