Exped, Schnozzel https://georgefisher.co.uk/collections/equipment-sale/products/exped-camping-mat-schnozzel-pump-bag Great bit of kit, I use mine on my Exped mat and my Thermarest Uberlite. They also have the Thermarest equivalent (bit heavier) at £15: https://georgefisher.co.uk/collections/equipme...

Re: The bikepackers map of mid-Wales.
That sounds exactly like the Welsh that I heard from the local lads when I worked at Trawsfynydd. Before that I hadn't realised that the Welsh language was 60% English swear words. They used them beautifully though, very poetic.

Re: What you done t' your bike today
Changed the chainring from a 32 to a 28 (which necessitated removing a chain link), fitted some disgustingly green riser bars and fixed an inspirational BBB sticker to them (cheers Stu). I tried it all out on a spin up Latrigg in the snow yesterday, seemed to work well. It turns out that I can't ped...

Re: Favourite bike of 'all time'?
My first mountain bike, a Ridgeback 602LX that I bought when I was 16. I put thousands of miles on it until I bent the frame in a crash on the Mosser fell road. It still got me home though.

Re: So, those cheap On-One helmets
I've recently bought a (half price in the sales) Troy Lee Designs helmet that fits my oversized nut. If anything it's an even better fit than my 10 year old Giro, in that I can actually use it with the internal padding rather than having to strip it out before it'll fit on my head.

A pair of half price Merrell MQM Flex Mid Goretex boots for winter (when it's cold rather than wet). I use Nukeproof Horizon Pro Flat Pedals on my MTB, so these will do nicely over a thick pair of socks.

Re: What you doing next year?
Just getting back into cycling after a 25 year hiatus. My youngest son started mountain biking this year, so I had to buy one to accompany him. Best thing he could have done, I'm having a great time but the lack of fitness is a tragedy. I've got a few routes around Cumbria, North Wales and Cheshire ...

Re: Winter bivy comp: How cold can you go!
How are you defining a bivvy? Having spent many long, boring winter nights kipping out in a bivvy bag in my youth, I'm not keen to repeat it. If tents count, then count me in.
Cheers, Michael.
Cheers, Michael.

Re: Tour Divide Write Up
Great write up Dave. I've read a lot about the CDT hike, but this is the first time I've heard of the bike race.
