Re: Festive Theme - Three Crowns

What about Offa's Byke ? - homegrown and I think only me has done it (but I took a leisurely approach).

BWB

The Bristol Winter Bivvy had a low turn out - just me. I had hoped to join the SWWB - but an unscheduled event the previous weekend threw plans for the 3 days away with Verena's crew, so a quick overnight local trip cycling from my doorstep in Bristol took its place. On a clear and sunny Friday afte...

SORTED : 29er Frame - 18 ins or thereabouts and 135mm qr

As above - don't want to spend a lot for a winter project so all options considered !

Would hope to be able to use my existing wheels but something with a thru axle could go in the mix.

Also any recommendations on set up/ travel would be appreciated.

Re: CO2 impact of bikepacking travel or an event

A coupe of links that may help... Whilst European train travel with a bike is tricky, mainly getting out of the UK with it, I always find that the Man in Seat 61 provides guidance and inspiration : https://www.seat61.com/ and after you have negotiated the Eurostar melee at St Pancras those German IC...

Re: CO2 impact of bikepacking travel or an event

Interesting to see this raised, has definitely been the elephant in the room. I will never ride them, but I am increasingly uncomfortable with events like the Great Divide and Silk Road with some riders flying a long long way to participate. Would like to know more about carbon offsetting schemes fr...

Re: Ideas for a SE England to Snowdonia route?

Stu's Offa's Byke route would get you from Chepstow (after the Cotswolds) to Prestatyn, I imagine generally head off west well before you hit the Welsh coast - maybe around Oswestry.

4 days from the S.E. seems tight, but happy to be proven wrong!

Re: Mike Burrows Rip

Sad news,

but his work wasn't all cutting edge and new designs,

a bit more mundane he shortened a pair of cranks for my mate, down to something like 155 mm, so he could still cycle with much reduced movement after a total knee joint replacement.

Great news on The Top House, Trefil. !

When it closed a few years back it seemed another remote pub would be gone forever. Must get back there and find the Chartist Cave soon.

Re: Etrex Stem Mount

Been following this as I don't have much space on my bars I seem to have found a simple, free solution, so far good for a few hundred off road miles I used a countersink drill bit on the square hole that would retain the rubber seat, so that the star fangled screw sits down nice and flush. Dispensed...
