Re: TDR 2017

How do you miss the golddust trail if you have a GPS? I get that if you were using maps you probably would, but if you read up on the route and were aware of it... I guess some garmins don't give off course warnings too. re: dogs. I kept my bear spray for Vallecitos, but when I went through it was l...

I have no idea, it was just a joke! I'm sure he doesn't cheat now, there's a lot of scrutiny these days.

Also, I think that the 'no sail' rule was added as a result of that incident, so at the time it was within the rules. Need to dig out that open letter from mike curiak..

Frontrunners soon getting through the long drag to Pinedale. Not fond memories of that shithole, that's where my credit card got cloned and someone spent £1000 at a clothes store in NYC the day after! Pain the ass.

Oh man, yeah, all the food at Lima, then I also had massive tailwind from Lima to Lakeview where I camped. Such cruise!

Yep that's the one Scott. Sounds like I was extremely lucky in 2015. Well, it was ~40ºC, but that's better in my book that gloop and sage hopping. Was easy rolling into Lima from here, apart from the bit of road into Lima that looked so short on the map, went on forever.

Re: TDR 2017

The route isn't going through Elkford or Sparwood this year, does anyone know why? It misses out the Flathead Pass (the river trail) and I think the 'connector' cliff ascent too. First resupply is now Fernie, BC.

Also I used satellite internet for 5 years, I coped. It's expensive and sh!t, but you can get by.

Great write up Ian, and can totally relate to all that negative thought in the heat and humidity on day one. Some niggling old injuries totally ground me down and I scratched. Never felt so mentally weak. You're super tough getting through all that with the groin injury, sounds bloody awful! Again, ...
