My big bottle of Squirt is running low, it cost me £22. A new one is £40!!!!
Is there anything as good for sensible money?

Re: Very off topic - pins and needles following AZ jabs
I know three people with both AZ jabs that have tested positive for Covid this week, they're not as sick as maybe they would be without the vaccine, I don't know what version of the virus they have.

Re: Whats the pick of the 29er rims at the moment?
I've been looking around for new rims. I already own a pair of Velocity Blunt SS, they're on my singlespeed. I think they're around 7 or 8 years old now, they were easy to build and I've had no problems with them since. At a quoted 425 grams they're light, the internal with of 26.8mm seems fine with...

Re: Off topic: Kenny Rogers?
My dad is a big country music fan and as a youngster he used to drag me along to concerts because my mum wouldn't go. The best we ever went to was Johnny Cash and the Carter Sisters, I think I would have refused a Kenny Rogers gig.

I’ve had a deschutes and now a Luna solo. I’m 5’8” in my heels, for me it’s not too much trouble to keep the feet from the wet single skin but much beyond that and I reckon you’ll be trying hard to avoid damp foot end scenario. The side guys are key in avoiding that situation, plenty of room but co...

Re: Knee/Leg warmers for normal thighs
Gore seem to fit me OK, they're bigger than Endura which is the next biggest thing I've tried. The only other thing that is equal to Gore is my Nike stuff but they stopped making it in the 90's.

Re: Are there any bikepacking events with "Motivational actors." ?
Although a road ride, the Ardechoise finishes on a climb with 6 hairpins, when I rode it each bend had a band. The ride itself has a shed load of road closures which means lots of villages that are stuck for the day. Rather that get annoyed they have a party instead. It's the only sportiv I've ridde...

I seem to remember a coast to coast trail, a motorcycle trail that cyclists were using. At the moment I'm in a tent with rubbish internet, I'll have a look later in the week when I get home.

Re: UK terrain like the Tour Divide?
I left Banff at the end of July. Had a small rain shower just outside Helena, another outside Platoro and a night of pissing rain somewhere on a mountain in Colorado which didn't count as I was tucked up in my tent. The only thing you need to think about leaving that late is how much sun cream to ta...

Re: Pumps
I've slagged of Lezyne serval times, I don't think things have improved. They're very nicely made pumps that unscrew valve cores. If you buy one expect to buy another widget as above, superglue the cores in, carry spare cores, carry something to tighten the core, etc, etc. The best fix for Lezyne pr...

Re: What bottom bracket do you use?
I've got 5 bikes with Chris King BB's, 3 are 24mm and 2 are PF30. I own the grease tools for both models and a decent grease gun. All brackets are a few year old. How good are they? I usually maintain them once a year, the 24mm on the Jones was given a grease change then ridden down the Divide with ...

For super thin pads take a look at tri shorts, or find a saddle you can ride in normal undies.

Re: Borah bivy or mesh inner for a Gatewood.
The inner for the Gatewood is rectangular, it doesn't fill the space at the back. Difficult to explain, I've got Deschuttes tarp, the inner and also a Lunar Solo. The Deschuttes and Lunar Solo are the same size, there's loads of room, use the inner in the Deschuttes and you lose loads of space. The ...

Fit a longer stem, problem solved.
I have a dislike of the long and low geometry modern mountain bikes seem to have adopted.

Re: How long will tyres keep if unfitted?
I've got a mid 90's Marin in the loft. The original tyres were removed shortly after the bike was bought and have been in loft for the last 25 plus years. They're fine to use. Road tyres I have a stock which normally means a tyre gets used around 5 years after I bought it. Much more puncture resista...

I'm 58 and haven't run out of ambition yet. Going forward I should hopefully have time and a small amount of money to help fulfill them.

I'd be looking for a replacement or refund. It's up to Sonder to prove it's your fault, check out your rights. Don't suppose you paid by credit card.

I fell out of tree and snapped my elbow, my arm folded in half the wrong way. I spent a month in hospital with an open cast so that the docs could manipulate the joint. I was 7, so 50 years ago.

Re: Cabin Fever 2020
I haven't ridden my mountain bike since October. It's thick clay here that gets trampled into ankle deep mud by horse riders as soon as it rains. By December the horse riders have usually fecked up the ground so badly they can't ride on it. In a normal winter I'll pop the bike in the van and drive t...

Re: Anyone have a 'micro camper?'
If I were going to go small I'd use my current Caddy to cart bikes and stuff around then hitch up a micro caravan as needed. That was my plan but as it is, wifey said she liked the idea of a camper van but it needed a full size lengthways bed and a shower and this and that. A man who converts vans i...

Wifey and I are good to go as soon as the house is sold. We're both 57, we've been together since we were 17 and have no children. We got out first mortgage at 19 and have paid as much as we could afford into pensions and property ever since. We've had reasonable jobs but it's not been plain sailing...
