Re: HT550 2022

As mentioned in the 2021 Reflections, Annie Le should be starting a winter HT550 today, here's the link to her fundraising. https://localgiving.org/fundraising/AnnieLe-WinterHighlandTrail550/ I thought I'd seen mention of a tracker but can't find it at the moment, but I'll add it if I do. Blimey th...

Scottish Winter Bivvy

That was a cracker, Ray you would be proud! So the destination was 'somewhere in the hills above Dunkeld' with Jimmy G, Dave (Northwind) and Dave's mate Morne, as well as my good self, confirmed as show ups. I lazed around all day looking at the varying levels of drizzle outside before eventually lo...

Back OT, making that stove looks like a guaranteed lacerated hand, and I've not fully recovered from my stanley knife incident  That's exactly what I thought (after thinking 'wow must give that a go') as I'm perfectly capable of giving myself a life threatening injury just opening a normal rin...

Re: The post man's been ...

And a replacement Exped pillow... my last one blew a baffle after I sat down on it too heavily. It still works, depending on how much air is in it) so I might punt it on. That happened to mine last month when I lent on it a bit hard. It actually punctured. Fixed it OK so will probably stick with it...

Re: Scottish Winter Bivvy

The route up through glen Garr is a corker and well worth doing. May be a bit soggy in places but nothing too horrible. North of the bothy you have to watch your route as whats on the OS isn't on the ground - a path peals off the track at Lochan Oisinneach at about the 'L' of Lochan on the OS 50k. I...

Re: Full suss vs rigid 29plus

Tricky one really. I'd plump for rigid 29+ but that's more to do with not being into multi pivot bouncers, forks that need a service every other ride and spending a load of dosh. Plus blasting down a rocky descent on a bouncer is a bit boring..... It's really a personal choice, how much you want to ...

Uhm, Maid of Ace. They remind me a bit of the Distillers. Don't click if you don't like punk - although, they can all ride a BMX better than you  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQDEXqcGlNc My word. I think I'm in love (for the 246th time). *sigh* where were they when I was in my twenties? Lo...

Well yesterdays, but imgbb was playing up so I couldn't put the photos in.... Finished up a rather fraught week thanks to storms, snow and ice and got out the house as soon as I could hoping to make the best of a fine afternoon. Off up to my local hills as usual hoping to score some snow. Nothing wa...

Cue lots of 75g poles for sale in the classifieds.
No I'm not going to buy one, there is nothing wrong with the one I've got. Apart from its 28g's heavier. Sh*t.

Re: Storm Arwen damage - Cairngorms etc?

There are people moaning about the lack of resilience in the power supply grid. Saying things like "there shouldn't be any trees near wires" etc. The thing is, they don't have to be. In storms like last weekend's big items go flying. Many years ago I woke up after a particularly windy nig...

Pretty sure they are all the same. Shimano ones certainly are although there can be a bit of variety in the size of hammer required to get them on  I use adaptors on the stragg (also with Hunt wheels) as it was cheaper than buying new disks. The Shimano ones are better as the disk bolts to the...

80 people! :???: I doubt that many will actually start. Not sure what the pre-start dropout rate is, but I bet its 15 or 20% Aye but there is usually a fair few on the waiting list so any drop outs have tended to get replaced by those in recent years. Maybe he's going to do a staggered start again.
