Oh yeah... I'm not embarking on anything like this without a skin full.

Baptism by fire... sounds nice and warm.

At last... I have managed to enter a BB event.

Time will tell if that is something I'll regret.

Re: Surly update Krampus & Karate Monkey

Surly site seems to say that the new Krampus can only take a 30T chainring.... seems a bit restricting to me.

A 29+ is in my future, probably next year but if that is right then it is not going to be a Krampus.

Re: So.. whats the best rigid fork you've ridden??

I am unable to compare forks as I have only ridden one, the Niner RDO. What I would say about it is that it steers well and provides what I would call 'rich' levels of feedback, I find it quite addictive. There is a degree of spring and damping which can be felt yet they do not twist. Overall, I lov...

Scottie I have an array of full susser, any or all of which are at your disposal mate.

I may have several sets of forks kicking around too...

I guess I'd better watch the film.

Re: FS: 2012 Spearfish, Orange, M.

No worries. I do a lot of prevaricating too. It would be the spring by the time I get the Bandit sorted, stuck main pivot axle at the moment, well the last 2 years actually. So at least this has me back on it, shall have a stab at it next week. Then I think I'll get a bag made, reckon it'll make a t...

Re: The price of stuff.

The thing about the HB.160 isn't about what type of riding requires £7500, it's about owning something special. My Mum just had some crappy windows fitted for that kind of money. Cheap mass produced plastic put together by kids on minimum wage and thrown in by 'do as little as possible' sub contract...

Re: The price of stuff.

I have had a couple of plays on the HB.160, the truth is it rides well but not amazingly well. But that is not what that particular bike is all about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-WgGxwoP78 That is what the HB.160 is all about and quite frankly the price is pretty damn reasonable in this instan...

A bit late to the party.... if you didn't need the frame bag Bob i'd be interested, looks like it would fit perfectly into my old Transition Bandit frame.

Re: Getting better a bikepacking/bikepack racing?

Hi Matt Firstly, Ian's hint at the coach you are looking for may have been a little too subtle, it's Stuart, the man responsible for this place. I've no experience of his coaching or nowt else but as a one stop shop for learning a bit about all aspects of biking and bike packing I'd think he might b...

Bum, bugger and blast... as my Grandad used to say.

I am out before it has even began.

Timing just hasn't panned out for me so I shall be putting this one on the back burner for another time.

Enjoy.

Re: Kinesis FF29

I am on a medium FF29. It is about spot on for me at 5'10'' with a 31'' inside leg. I run a 70mm stem and have approx 270mm of seat post showing. The seat tube angle on these is 74 degrees so having a fair bit of seat post showing doesn't throw the seated position back too far. For £450 that is a ba...

When i bought my EE quilt I got a bloody good hiding. The fact my custom made quilt was not as ordered is very fustrating, I decided to settle for the incorrectly made item, because I couldn't face the rising costs of returning and then another being sent. That said EE were poor show... will never s...

Re: Freeze Dried Meals Rehydrated Cold-Will I die?

Yep, it is just my mind wandering about thinking of the best ways to be efficient on a ITT. Not that I expect or even want to try and break any records, if I can complete one in double the record I'd be bloody surprised! It was just something that my mind settled on as a possible option. I have orde...

Freeze Dried Meals Rehydrated Cold-Will I die?

Just curious really. I am sure that some here will have experimented with re hydrating freeze dried meals cold. My guess is the danger lies in dehydrating the stomach if the meal is not hydrated properly. The thinking is to chuck the packet contents into a water bottle, add water, enough that the me...

Re: Cairngorms Loop - Sept Start

Just a quick query.

I emailed Steve about 10 days ago.

So far I have heard nothing back.

I realise he may well be riding across a continent or something, just wondering what the normal turnaround time is for getting entered.

No doubt someone here will know where he is.

Many thanks

The Z Packs stuff is calling to me.... the cost is crazy high especially when factoring in the import duty and handling.

That said, they certainly look the best lightweight option out there.

Re: Thoughtful Thursday - Just what is it we're after?

Talk about opening up a can of worms! The nub of the thing seems to be, what has bike development done for us? For me the answer is errr... both complicated and very simple. I am completely in love with riding bikes, rigid ones with flat bars, rigid ones with drop bars (enjoyable rather than outrigh...
