Re: Singular Rooster 29+ Kickstater

I haven't ridden my full susser since September, mainly as I didn't want to wreck it in grotty conditions so it's been rigid rides on either my inbred ss, fargo or fatty. On a single track outing around the woods I took my fatty and my BIL brought his El Mar. Dunno if it was the fork set up, seat he...

Re: Stanforth Bikes - urban expedition?

It's a lot of money to spend to remind yourself how duff bikes were back in the day! I know the Rover Mini sold largely unchanged for 40 odd years but that offered something modern cars didn't. I'm not convinced ye olde mtbs offer the same experience. Retrobike might disagree I guess. If you were de...

Re: Endurance ... When do the scales tip?

Like slarge says, it's all about pace. Spending all day meandering around bridleways is less of an endurance test than pedalling like mad for 4hrs. That's why I said it would be different if you had to cover a certain distance in 4 hours ... flat out for 4 hours would certainly be a test. Which is ...

A year or two ago it seemed like a good idea (didn't do it mind) but now I've realised it's not that difficult to cart the stuff about yourself!

But also the April edition of Outdoor Fitness that was a freebie trial copy......will it contain the BB200 write up? Be nice if it did but I think it'll be in the issue after this one ... nice if I'm wrong though. Alas, you're probably right. No sign of it in this issue. :( Did any check that MikeD...

Re: Lithium batteries

My local morrisons had the AAAs marked up at 50p a pair so I duly bought the lot. Might be a national cock up. Had trouble finding AAs much cheaper than the supermarket as the PO/couriers can be arsey about shipping lithium so the p+p kills it. :|

From the other tyre tread, err thread, I mentioned that I only got 60 miles from a racey 3c ikon before putting a slit in it. A mate has had similar issues. The light ones might be a bit too light!

Re: Schwalbe Tubeless

My experience of schwalbe tyres has been hit and miss. Can't set up a Racing Ralph on a Stans rim, and durability is poor in rocky areas. Maxxis, Conti or Spesh tyres have all been fine for me. It was a Ralph & Ron I fought with on crests. Iirc stans said not to use schwalbe for a time as they ...

Re: Just entered Wrt

No need to be nervous! It's only a mission if you decide to make it one. :) I made it around all the checkpoints last year and had plenty of time to chat to the fellow WRTers I bumped into. :)

The only thing worrying me this year is where I finish on the weigh in "scales of destiny". ;)

Re: Schwalbe Tubeless

I had fancy schwalbes on my canyon and took chunks out of them and got two punctures on their maiden voyage around sandy Thetford! They were also a complete arse to fit to Stan's Crests. I've since had a pair of the ORC Nobby Nic folders which fitted the crests tightly, but without a struggle and we...
