Re: Yorkshire Winter Bivi

Can you give me an idea which way are we going from Skipton, and do we avoid roads please, and whereabouts is the pub.. ? We'll be heading north west. With conditions being so changeable at the moment, its difficult to say what the route will be as some sections will be fantastic with a good freeze...

Re: Highland Trail 550 - 2020

You'll need to send Alan an email, to prove your competency via other events. Dont believe the BB200 counts, but things like the Cairngorms Loop, Northern Loop of the Highland trail and various other routes. Basically you have to prove you have the capability to ride in remote places, over harsh ter...

Or look at split tickets

I once got a train up to Glasgow for £25, and then another to Oban for £25, whereas it was easily £200 if bought all as one X_X

Those squares south of Bacup/east of Whitworth aren't that bad to get - there's a pretty solid network of trails over the tops.
Cheers
From what I've seen, theres some good tracks up to the windturbines for when I have the motivation to do something specific.

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles

Not really been looking to expand my square this year (It hasnt increased), but have been exploring a bit. Lots of new places visited and hopefully of benefit in the long term. Some interesting route choices at the weekend, allowed me to expand my cluster to 1000 tiles https://i.ibb.co/sQfhtM5/1000....

You just need to find a me/Reg of the female persuasion, whos willing to promote something like this, and go from there :-bd

I also tend to travel for 400+ rides as I've done enough laps of my local roads in the South West, Wales the usual destination as a) it isn't too far away from me b) has much less traffic and c) has some proper scenery
Come up and do the Old 240 :-bd

Re: Diary of a Randonneur - Goals now listed

If you ECE the route then you'd be able to claim the additional mileage from home to the start of the event, as 5000k in a year is a lot. Putting some faster tyres on will help you alot. If you're doing a 200 easily then the step-up to a 300 isnt too big. Its similar, just a bigger day out. Getting ...

Its a good thing that someone has started to pull something like this together, but i'd be interested to know if anyone has ridden the route yet, or if its been a desktop exercise. Aware that the Yorkshire section follows the PBW, but it wouldnt be the route i'd follow and there are much better rout...

I’m ok for gas, as I’ll just survive on cold stuff.

A bit warmer than I expected on a night, but will probably come prepared for it to drop to zero.

Have two large 750m bottles, but will I can accommodate more :-bd

Assume it could be cold overnight Possibly just get away with a bivi? Assume it’s fairly dry that time of year and...

Yes I started to have a look at things yesterday. - Aim to ride the full route, but make a decision after a few days if its achievable. Option of taking the Atajos at La Puebla de Valverde if it seems like too much - Was thinking around 100k a day, and see how we get on. Is it a full 7 days, as some...
