Re: Most accurate wrist HRM?

I have a Garmin Forerunner 45 which will do most of the stuff you need.

Think the 35 is very similar and can be found cheaply if you shop around :-bd

Will you not have to self-isolate for two weeks upon return to the UK though???
Believe thats the current position, but expecting things to change once the airlines and travel companies put pressure on the Government.

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles

Does anyone know if there are any "rules" to square hunting, like the rules of self-supported? Maybe etiquette is a better word... just wondered if it was a thing. The only rule is for it to be self propelled. Etiquette is a better term and thats up to the individual. I used to start all of the rid...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles

Unsure the PRO+ account is worth the extra money, but the standard account is worth more than £10 a year. Unsure on Bens model, but I imagine he has a good solid membership base and at £10 a year most people will just renew, as in context it’s not that much if you consider how much a new tyre is. I ...

Re: If we close up for a bit...

Talking about place of residence, I see that now viewers and agents are allowed to come into your for-sale house again! How fooking insane is that? The house 'market' Govt donors have leaned on them as usual (it's not been a proper 'market' for 20 years of course - broken beyond repair and irrepara...

I can see this leading to a lot of aggravation between people travelling and locals living within the National Parks and beauty spots next weekend :???:

Re: Gravel Gearing....again

Same / similar to Stuart here, XT 28-40 MTB 10s chainset and 11-32 or 11-36 rear (650B wheels). No ego problems related to my chainring sizes  Bar end shifters make it easy to get past compatibility limitations. It's not perfect, a narrower Q crank would be nice, but it's pretty good. Oddly, ...

I like having my hands on the hoods and do most riding from there so bar-end shifters always *feel* a long way away.
I originally thought that, but after a hand full of rides you soon get used to it.

The question is what are you going to use it for?

If it’s trail riding go 1x if it’s going to be more mixed then go 2x to get a more useful range

Re: Numb feet after riding

I'd give 1 a try if you have the bits to do so without spending anything. All my off road rides are on flats and it gives you plenty of options to move your feet positions around depending on the terrain. Once you've worked out where the natural position you can go to 2 and set cleats up accordingly...

I've often wondered what the financial model for this site looks like, given that you don't have advertisers, nor a subscription model. Purely donations through feeding the bear ? Been a bit quiet on this thread for a few days. Just been idling thinking/speculating about "well how will we know when we're 'allowed' to do a bivvy ride?" edit - does this need to be a loop arriving back at the front door?

Re: Is a full lock-down coming?

I am struggling to see what the exit strategy from all this is going to be though. Without widespread testing and 'going after the virus', when controls are lifted surely we will rapidly deteriorate back to square one given that most of us still won't have had it? Denmark and Austria are going to r...

Re: Is a full lock-down coming?

I doubt the Government have the resources to police it, so I hope its more of a PR exercise to say that people arnt fully following things, and then letting peer pressure to do the rest. 99% of people will be following things its just the 1% who probably arnt. Up here its fairly quiet, and whenever ...

Re: closing national parks, and imposing fines?

If they seriously wanted people to stop moving about, they should be closing the motorway network to all but essential traffic.

That would be a lot easier and more effective than trying to shut a national park.
Yes I could still get there, but the extra time and hassle would but a lot of people off.

What you have to remember is that these regulations are drawn up with regards to the “average” person.
