Imagine my confusion when I misread the title this thread as "Rum Butter", the traditional Cumbrian delicacy.

Re: nicest way to cross the central belt ?

This possibly isn't very relevant to cycling, but when I read Chris Townsend's "Along the Divide" where he walked the watershed of Scotland, he was pleasantly surprised by the Central Belt section. He hadn't been looking forward to it and expected it to be dull, but found that it wasn't.

I have a selection Restrap, Alpkit Gnaro and Specalized Bura Bura. All fit on the normal part of the bar easily. I’m currently lusting after one of these although I really don’t need one. https://rockgeist.com/product/jones-bag/ Now that I like. I've got one of the Jones bags which is great for car...

Re: Todays ride

That's a great place. I used to kip in the old quarrymen's huts on climbing trips back in the 90s. We used to go exploring the quarries on wet days, and in the climbing mags there were photos of Johnny Dawes and Paul Pritchard crossing the rusty old steel hawsers that were stretched across the quarr...

I've got a Big Sky Chinook 2 person as my winter tent: https://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/search/big-sky-international-chinook As a High Volume Human I don't like to be confined to a titchy one person tent during the long winter nights, so I went for the 2 person. Well that wasn't very nice of them was it? I hope you just blithely carried on to the bitter end without the music!
With the music was switched off I could hear myself, and they had a point.

Re: Dangerous dogs

As an aside, my ex was bitten by a farm dog when she was pregnant with our first child. Her mother attributed our eldest son's childhood fear of dogs to this incident. The look on my and my ex's faces when she said that could have been used for a WTF? gif.

Ulterior Motive for the BB200?

What other reason could be given for a bunch of unwashed ditch sleepers nosing around the more remote bits of Welsh countryside?

Re: Sonder Broken Road Owners - Whatcha Reckon?

Thanks very much, there's some great information and pics there. One of the things I was pondering was if it would take 29 x 2.6'' tyres, and that's been definitively answered.

Sonder Broken Road Owners - Whatcha Reckon?

What do Broken Road owners think of them? If my finances survive Covid 19, they're in my top two bikes, fitted with Jones bars and rigid forks. I have a few questions too: What are the biggest 29er tyres that can fit front and rear? How much vertical clearance is there? If you've got rigid forks, wh...

Re: (Reg's) The Quarry & Shaft Thread

I used to climb with a lad who had an unhealthy interest in dank and hard to find quarries. He was obsessed with finding somewhere to do a new route, ignoring the fact that the reason that there were no climbs in those quarries was because they were damp, loose and had been used a toilet by both hum...

Anyone enlighten me as to what the weather is likely to be around Nov time? Ta. I can't be specific about November, but I've been there in October and it was lovely. I like plastic for "on the go" bottles because I can squeeze it, and they definitely have to have a cap over the nozzle.
