Re: so, this virus ?

This is why they need the antibody tests ASAP, it's critical to know who has had it - especially essential workers - so they know who can safely go back to work/see other people. That's assuming we know 100% you can't get it twice/can't be infectious again..??

I'll stay out of the comfort debate as it differs so much from person to person....I do like the Moots, but on pure aesthetics, the chainset is still too big and impractical. I like 1x and chunky tyres...

Re: If we close up for a bit...

I heard on the radio about the planned lock--down in Bavaria, and apparently people are not restricted from solo exercise, so walking, running, and biking etc are fine, just no group things. I do hope UK government see the same sense if they need to up the ante.

Re: If we close up for a bit...

The WW2 spirit comparison is an interesting one, because we're being asked to do the opposite, and it clearly doesn't play to a strength of national character in the way the 'blitz' spirit might have. The other issue with that is that it's steeped in mythology and propaganda. The general population...

1) My son and family. Just popped downstairs and he said "papa play with playdough"...brings me back to a nicer place than work and viruses. 2) Books. Always reading and I get so much from it, always have done. It's why I studied English literature. 3) Riding off road. Doesn't matter what bike quite...

There's an independent cafe near me that has advertised they are starting a local delivery service of their menu, plus collection and tables outside set far apart...don't know how pubs will cope. Very happy to be corrected but am I not right in thinking that the virus can be spread if you touch som...

Re: FS - Loo paper

Went to Tesco today (to buy lunch items), and it was pretty busy and the queues at the checkouts not social distancing. I saw in someone's trolley they had four large packets of serviettes. I'm guessing it wasn't for a dinner party. And it'll clog up their bog too.

Re: If we close up for a bit...

I'll be heading out for my own sanity (probably no bivvies though) until it becomes banned, which I very much hope it doesn't. Especially as life will now involve lots more child care, and doing shopping etc., as my partner has to stay at home / no social interaction now as she is pregnant - she'll ...

Re: Camera Phones (Sorry)

I have a P20 pro (which i think is the same camera as the p30), and I got purely for the camera. Probably quite cheap now, and i got mine as new reconditioned. It's a really good camera and very versatile, and plenty of settings and manual options (including RAW shooting) if you want. Wasn't keen on...

Re: Quick/easy access bikepacking style luggage

Like scotroutes, always try and keep tools, pump and tube somewhere convenient on the bike at all times. I'm happy carrying a bottle boss mounted pump all the time, and I have a topeak ninja with multitool on the mtb, it's good to know it's there and i won't forget it. Also have a tubeless worm and ...

Buffalo Super 6 shirt from 2003, use it a lot every winter, couple of burn holes and tears, enhanced by a hood i got for it on 2011. Helly Hansen Lifa from 2004 - used a great deal, few years life left in it, as it's worn thin on the shoulders from backpack. Rukka baselayer from 2007 - used plenty e...

Re: G-one tires

I've had G-One all-round 38mm on my bike for quite a while now and I rate them. Good enough on tarmac, and decent enough on dry off road. They cope OK with light slop too. Mine come up as 41mm on 19mm rims, so that's a bonus.

My concern is also rising a bit. Partly because work is taking it a lot more seriously, but mainly because our baby is due in 6 weeks and we'll be in Royal Berks hospital near/bit after the expected peak. Obviously the hospital will have high bio-security, but it's an unwelcome risk at what is a fai...

I am ridiculously positive, and both of those words are important here, but the weather is just another part of the environment. I love the woods but not all the time, the flat is sometimes wonderful, but being an active part of the changing landscape is truly incredible. Oversimplifying weather to...

I agree that initiatives that help kit last longer are great, the example above looks really good. Outdoor brands are doing a bit more repair and repurpose, but it could be much bigger. All of that kind of thing is a step in the right direction to getting more use out of the stuff we have....it's a ...

Re: Do Aerodynamics matter for Ultra Distance Bikepacking?

I guess aero matters if you care about speed and times or if it is how a ride is judged (= racing). Otherwise, there might be other priorities like comfort or weight that matter more, as mentioned above.

Otherwise, what jameso said ^

Just putting the dampers on any fear of taps running dry. Re: anyone else proper had enough of the weather?

Yeah pretty tired of it. Went out off road again at the weekend and the number of vaguely ride-able or enjoyable sections are very small, and fed up of the slop and muck. Decided i'll stick to back road riding for a couple of weeks, as the ground needs to recover and the water needs to recede a lot ...
