Re: Looking ahead - what are you looking forward to?
My fifteen year old daughter wants to do the John Muir way with me. I just need to keep it to 30 miles a day, go at her pace and not put her off! I was going to go on the walking route but the cycle route will get more comfy for her. It's amazing how lock down can change perspective on what a holida...

Re: Hammock underquilt advise please
I got an Alpkit down Cloud Cover quilt and sewed a channel down each side and added elastic. Works a treat. https://photos.smugmug.com/Other/Online-sharing/i-B2cHtJs/0/1e2ddf10/M/hammock%20end-M.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/Other/Online-sharing/i-2sx7gS6/0/5ed1ba2d/M/hammock%20upside%20down-M.jpg ...

Re: Hey Shaf (and any others on the front line)
Thanks but remember I'm just standing on the shoulders of giants. Someone got out of bed for me to fuel up in early hours this morning. My microwave meal was on the shelf in the coop and the staff had the store open to sell it to me. Someone got the power back on in the station so I could cook it. S...

Re: Hey Shaf (and any others on the front line)
All good in my neck of woods. Lockdown looks to have been very effective. Bit of concern as to where our usual work has gone though. Plenty of PPE on our ambulances and staff absences still being covered. Yes it's tough, every job is more complicated now but we're still smiling.

3c in a hammock?
Planning on heading out on the John Muir way tomorrow but the cold is making me wonder if it's wise. I've a pipedream 200 XL and an equally light down underquilt which were great high on the GR247 last year but I'm doubting my gear for 3c forecast. Anyone else tried a similar combo?

I'll put my paramedic hat on just briefly here...... Bang to head followed by vomiting worth a visit to A&E. Concussion is a form of Traumatic Brain Injury and it's always hard to triage the potentially serious from the not so. Vomiting is a red flag. Glad you're ok and enjoyed the rest of your day ...

Re: 2019 - what you got planned?
It's the YOTHH for me. Crap year, seen too much death so going to rebalance things with more hammocking. The Year Of The High Hammock will be me trying to find the highest natural hangs for a night. First on my place, then Argyll, then a days ride from the house, then maybe Mull, Islay and the Alps ...

Creaky spokes
After the Gravel Dash there a creaking noise from my front wheel. Inspection reveals where the spokes cross there's wear. I think the noise is from them rubbing. Maybe a drop of oil will do. Is this common?

Yup, 2 of us heading south from Argyll, talk as well. Ideally I'd like to hammock but doubt I'll be quick enough to bag a hang.
Weather looks ok, dry but windy.

I find my ToughRoad perfect for forestry roads which I'm surrounded by. Not sure it's the best choice for bridleways etc.
