Re: What are you drinking now?

A couple of pints of "I don't want spaghetti again", from Shiny brewery this evening, accompanying a good chin wag with a load of folk from Peak District MTB and DMBinS.

Re: A wee whisky appreciation thread.

150ml is good for sharing on an overnighter or does a 3-4 day trip.. ymmv etc.. Reminds me of a little trip I did with a friend, some notes from my journal: Day 1 ...Nearly half-way now, and we paused for a dram. Day 2 We were both feeling surprisingly chipper, despite the casualties of last night ...

Re: Todays ride

What a way to start the day. A couple of hours showing some MTB advocacy folk around some of Sheffield's finest trails. A light dusting of snow out there, just enough to be grippy. Pogies are ace.

Re: A wee whisky appreciation thread.

My brother now living in Dublin means I've received Irish whiskeys for the last couple of birthdays, Redbreast last year and Green Spot this. My faves are generally... - Big peaty feckers: Lagavullin, Laphroaig, Springbank (Campbeltown), Bunnahabhain - "Pudding" whiskies (sweeter, more rou...

Re: Today's Run

Yesterday morning's run was in the woods. I'd originally planned to head up onto the moors, but snow flurries suggested that mightn't be the best plan for a short outing before my first meeting of the day. Instead, I headed for milder conditions amongst the trees, where in addition to numerous Squir...

The route's always there, you could do it as an ITT once Ramadan is over? Could be good prep for a year when you can make a mass start.

I really like my Flextail pump. Weight difference is pretty negligible either way, lack of faff is soooooooo much better.

Re: Near death experience - > what road/gravel gearing

I reckon any of the bikes mentioned so far will suit your needs fine. In true "recommend what you already ride" fashion, I'd add a Cotic Escapade to that list. For gearing, especially if you want it for bikepacking/laden riding, I'd suggest avoiding "road" gearing. Either 1x with...

I went to that Japanese import site out of idle curiosity, and now have a hankering for a Honda C50.

Just a short one up the valley through the local woods this lunchtime. Good to be moving, the woods are looking pretty, and I had a woodpecker flying along in front of me for a bit.

Re: Today's Run

A run/walk/scramble up and around the Ercall and Wrekin today. Approx 12km/660m. Great views at the top when I wasn't nearly being blown over. I won't have set any speed records, but when I wasn't desperately scrabbling for grip on the steep bits, it was lovely to be moving. https://www.instagram.co...

Reminds me of a friend of my grandfather whose approach to getting directions was to point in the direction he thought he should be heading, then ask, "La piscine,* oui ou non?"
