Re: Bamboo feedback.

Had my first warm rides in the bamboo t-shirt today. 3 short rides (about half an hour each) with labouring Inbetween. Very comfortable, not too sweaty and no scent at all so far. Any plan for a second run?

Re: Daftest thing you’ve ever carried...?

Not on a long ride, but I've frequently carried a kid's bike on the handlebars or strapped to my backpack.

That app is great, thanks...
Realised thanks to it that I'm only one short ride away from going to 12*12 from 9*9... And then fairly easy to get to 15*15. There's my plan for next week's time off then!

Re: What you done t' your bike today

Think it's"new" bike week in our house... Bought my 5 year old daughter a Wild 20" from to outdoors - pretty much a frog/Isla copy. 1*7 gears, proper freehub on nice light wheels and a lovely little aluminium f&f. And it now has a Minny Mouse bottle and cage too... Son saw this, and having just lear...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

Built it... Got a chumba vf2 frame for a silly low price on stw, built up with a mix of old and new bits. Anything but a bikepacking bike, but now means that the 27.5" hardtail can be tweaked more in that direction with swoopy bars etc... The would be a pic here but it was hammering with rain last n...

That looks significantly nicer and lighter than my laser cut idea... I think I'll go for the simple plan too! Thanks for the inspiration

Forgot about that - wood then?
That might just work!
Layers of 3mm plywood, with neoprene on the outside, was my most likely choice at the moment.

Strangely enough, I was contemplating laser cutting some of these this week, just trying to decide on the material. If I sort it, I'll post on here and could probably send some to you

Re: Making things the old, slow way.

It's good to see that there's still craftsmanship about ,instead of just putting the coordinates into a CNC/water cutter , although in the job these skills are rarely needed now I still make my apprentice learn with files( even down to sharpening my chisels) and hacksaws ,then he can progress onto ...

Re: The post man's been ...

Tiny but rather exciting package here - pawl springs for a hope XC Hub - final part in my mid-life crisis trials bike... Not ridden trials in many years, I think it's going to be a steep learning curve again! Not the postie, but an excellent member of this forum delivered most of a CX bike groupset ...

My daughter still loves the trailer bike (complete with probably the smallest frame bag you've ever made). I hope you are moving on to something similarly excellent!

2 isn't much as it's US R value, rather than SI. Seems to be a tad more than an air mattress but nowhere near other insulated ones

Re: CX frame swap

Very impressed with my shark CX bike - bought as a frame, forks and wheels for £260ish on eBay... Noticeably slacker than average and surprisingly comfy to ride. Speedy too - very close to KOMs on my commute to work without being totally flat out up the hills.

Pretty sure I've an lx brake/shifter combo. Might be so old as to be for canti brakes but I can probably find a converter.

Planet X have a load of bikepacking bundles going - actually look decent value too... https://www.planetx.co.uk/c/q/deals/bundles/bikepacking-bundles Also got 42t expander cogs for £8 if anyone still uses those? Just fitted one to my fatty and it shifts well (but not ridden properly yet...) https://...

Re: The post man's been ...

Some fat bike tubes, gravel/cross bike tubes, a singulator, a mini frame bag, a chain and a tyre from planet X's sale. Sadly, the 42t expander cog for the fatty was missing... So close to having the bits to get all the bikes working at once!

Can't make the Saturday, but is there any riding planned for Sunday? Might be able to ride out from Sheffield at dawn... We’ll need to get back to Sheffield  True, but I'm not doing a dawn start after a night out to just ride up stanage causeway.... Actually, I'm probably lying there, I proba...
