Re: Bivvy a month 2019

7/7, July done.
Nothing quite so dramatic for me. Local bivi, local woods, warm enough just for down socks, trousers and jacket.
Arrived at 01.30, saw a badger and rabbits, slept until 04.45, rode home.
First outing on the "new-to-me" P7. It's good to be back on an MTB :-bd .

Re: 26” rigid forks

Surly Troll fork: simple and satisfactory, with V-brake & disc fittings and eyelets for a variety of racks. Acceptable commuter bike comfort with a slick 2" tyre set to "slightly squishy" :ugeek: . For off-road, at a similar cost I'd be inclined to stick with a simple air fork, as it's just more fun...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

6/6 Another superlocal. Recced some delightfully promising spots on the Sunday morning ride but alas, fine drizzle had me scuttling back to the shelter of my favourite Christmas tree. Perfectly warm in my summer plumage of down socks/trousers/jacket and bivi bag. It's blimmin' noisy in the woods at ...

Re: Three Lions Tour: June Chilterns beerpacking

As the 3LT was spawned during a previous BaM, it would be fitting if 3LT spawned a subsequent themed BaM.

Any suggestions?

Re: anyone still running v brakes?

Yep, on the 2000-era commuter MTB skip bike. Vee's work fine, easy to maintain and cheap if you treat wheels as "consumable items" and spend accordingly (i.e. not much). :-bd

However: performance when the rims are coated with ice can be "unexpectedly exciting"

How about...15:00 hours at Leighton Buzzard railway station taxi rank.
