Re: Cycle2work voucher time :0)

I have to say i have always had a great transaction with the guys at Evolution in Bangor. I do nearly all my own maintenance, but i have been buying there for ages and always feel like im well looked after. Their workshop is always busy but they will always help me with my queries and ideas.

Re: Cycle2work voucher time :0)

My scheme is run entirely by Halfords, so i think i will have to source something from their shop unless i go mad in the interim and buy on impulse.

I really want a tourer so i think the closest they offer will be a hybrid from Boardman

Re: Remote diagnostics corner

Sometimes the pins holding the sprockets on the spider on XT can be loose. This causes a little play and a ticking noise. It may also be that the freehub-cassette interface needs a little grease or the lock ring at the correct torque. After that i would have to ask a grown-up!

strong and light tarp guy lines

Hi, i know you are all busy with BB prep, but could someone point me in the right direction for strong but lightweight tarp guys? If its something like paraglider/kite bridle lines, can you still use line locks so i dont have to do fancy knots?

Thanks

Re: Do i need a Surly Ogre, or something else?

I have seen that deal. I have a friend who has just bought one with the intention of flying to Turkey with it and cycling home over a period of months.

It looks ideal. I have never used Jones or loop bars but they look quite comfy.

Do i need a Surly Ogre, or something else?

Hi, I have recently done a weeks camping in Normandy using bikes as transport. We used a Specialized Tricross with rear panniers and a FS 29er with a large seatpack and a drybag on a front harness. I like the offroad ability of the mtb, and will definitely use it again for bikepacking. However I was...

Is that the XT dynamo hub? Whats it like? It seems a lot cheaper than an SP. It also appears that you can service the bearings yourself, although i will have another wheel for daytime duties...

Re: Fat granny, your thoughts.

I really like the Hope/SS 40t cassette expander. It gives a good range of gears and with a wide/narrow chainring and a clutch rear mech i have yet to drop a chain.

Re: Suggestions for an exciting 5 day ride

Im quite liking the loop idea. Im vaguely familiar with the Cairngorms having winter climbed there as a much younger man. Is there one 1:25000 sheet that covers it all? The site for the Cairngorm loop is a bit sparce on info. Are their any better rosources for tips and blogs? Or is it just google an...

Suggestions for an exciting 5 day ride

My girlfriend and I are used to lightweight camping. We also like to ride mtb and road bikes. My GF has declared she would like to do a 4-5 day bikepacking adventure in the uk. We live in N Wales and she fancies going somewhere new to ride. She is at her happiest riding landrover tracks or gentle si...
