Re: Todays ride

Love the pics Steve. Brompton looks right at home. Post-industrial apocalypse. And yes indeedy, I am proud to be an old relic :-bd . Right, off t'station now (on Brom of course) to pick up tickets for Sept baby-BaM this weekend (in Solihull..) and Oct BaM (three changes on the train to get to Cromfo...

Re: Todays ride

<mini-rant> (sorry) Went out for a wobble with Mrs Perrin just now. Ended up going past nasty new "edge of town retail park". Had a look. Deeply dispiriting. Usual suspects: C*sta, K*C (with "drive thru" for lazy people who can't spell I think), B&M(?), and M&S "food hall" (sounds like some sort of ...

Shades of the 'slap the poor old lady' scene in "Airplane!"

If you wanted a really ultralight, and very cheap, solution for handling the cold you could do worse than taking a few BBB 'Stop Being Soft' stickers to look at while you're shivering. Works every time for me :-bd

Re: Whats the most dangerous (legal UK) Rd you've ridden?

About the only roads I feel a little "uneasy" on are indeed the twisty ones with high hedges etc. Can't be seen from behind. Of course, any road user should not approach any corner at a speed that means they couldn't stop if an obstruction was just ahead round said corner. Some drivers moan about cy...

Re: Whats the most dangerous (legal UK) Rd you've ridden?

'Zone 1' - curiously I found that the 15 years I biked it were perversely enjoyable  . I would, sadly I'm afraid, agree that some other cyclists were the worst hazard. Note that video this week of a cyclist who ran a red light and smacked into a zebra crossing user. The biker then proceeded t...

"Now I hadn't paid to bivvy at the campsite, I'd only paid for a tent which I wasn't in, so whilst I think it's close, I'm pretty sure I'm within the rules" - Hmm!!!!

So how are we all doing Zip with the scores on the doors so far?

Excellent! My compliments to you. By some strange quirk one of my trips was also exactly 30 years ago this month, went by sea that time which was a bit bonkers. Also went through Hofn, brewing up at the campsite in my Lichfield tent on that lethal Optimus stove  . Blimey, I remember those old ...

Re: Bonkers time triallists

As we know it's not fair to heckle other people's pastimes unless maybe they verge into doing harm to others/things, but since we're heading into philosophical life/death territory, major-A-road TT riding strikes me as purgatory. They've crossed the Styx and suffering before they've been called. Pro...

They've beaten us to it Ben! I'm giving up and going home. Really enjoyed that (apart from the f1re obviously). That was a hell of a long selfie stick they used for the overhead rafts shot... Not sure how much longer I can do without this raft. With the Brom it'd be an unbeatable combo. TBH could ha...

So it is a bikepacking Brommie then! Can't see what tyres it's got. Bit irrelevant because the fat version will probably be along soon. I can't keep up, my head's spinning.

I think the emphasis is on the "free" bit - it's the "remuneration" that people seem to expect you to do things for if you're offering a service or goods that an alternative, but equivalent, "professional" person/outfit would charge them loads for  .

"Brompton Explorer" eh? Explorer sounds suspiciously off-roady to me  . I've heard about manufacturers jumping on the bikepacking bandwagon, but Brompton?! Still, they must have heard about Reg's GigPacking escapades and realised there's a new niche for them to sell into :-bd
