Re: Buying new forks, what do I need to know?
Or hang on for a month or so and have these for postage costs. Need to make sure I’m happy with the Travers Prongs first. https://i.postimg.cc/6qRJrQWK/EBA9-D35-B-9-CE1-4-ABC-AF4-C-F83-DB213-BC49.jpg Chinese EBay Carbon so I’m not ‘selling’ as such. Re: Buying new forks, what do I need to know?
Axle will come with your forks Just use the same headset, I just swap the crown race over if I change forks. A cutting guide for steerers is a worthwhile investment. I don’t think you really need anything, maybe a star fanged nut but that’s about it. (I’ve Rebas I use with a Broken Road btw and have...

Re: Suggest a backpack
I use one of these on a regular basis, I know some have strong opinions on not wearing backpacks but I generally forget I’m wearing it. https://www.northernrunner.com/running-bags-c144/running-ruck-sacks-c269/inov8-race-elite-24-black-p3161 The vest style straps don’t work so well for drop bar bikes...

I think they’ll be what I end up with.Any reason not to use an Ardent 2.4?
A decent compromise.

Re: 29x2.5 all round tyre
The 2.6 Mezcal is too big I think.
I have a suitable rear ready (Ardent Race 2.35), and am thinking of something with a little bit more bite for the front. Although I may just be underestimating the Mezcal?

29x2.5 all round tyre
Is there a current stand out tyre in this size?
I’m thinking Highland estate tracks mostly but with some gloopy bits, some tarmac bits.
2.4 as well if that throws up better choices

The Crane bells are almost excellent, walkers can heat you a long way off and they even seem able to penetrate the heating of the headphones on and oblivious crowd.
The band is annoying, just a coated wire on mine that’s probably to movement

Re: Come back 2x, all is forgiven!
Having gone from 3x to 1x to 2x I’m now back on 1x It’s not actually because I think 1x is better, I just prefer it when in use. Gravel bike went from 2x to 1x Full suspension went from 2x to 1x Was chatting with Scotroutes about this on Saturday, he doesn’t get 1x and I don’t get 2x. The important ...

Re: What Gravel ****** brakes - GRX worth the dosh?
I am already running a GRX rear derailleur and have been very impressed.
Although that was coming from a 105 mech on a road link.
So long as it costs less than what I was paying ScotRail each month it’s affordable.

What Gravel ****** brakes - GRX worth the dosh?
Morning, Bit of a first world problem as I have a fully functioning set of brakes, but I’m looking to eliminate as much faff as possible from my winter training and the all too frequent adjustments on my #GW brakes is one of those items of faff. The daily time slot I have for getting out on the bike...
