I just use an android phone. I have never really understood why I would need a Garmin.
waterproof and battery life are the main ones.

my ali express inner and outer combined weighs 540 grams or 360 with just a floor or 450 with a SOL event bivvy bag- i think its pretty easy and sub £100 [just]to get a 600g set up - the carbon pole is the dearest part. weights without poles or pegs to be clear so add 100 g ish I can squeeze two inn...

I have never been in a situation where they have kept my feet dry when it was raining -if the boot gets wet my feet do .Not very breathable either so i think you get wet with sweat from them as well. Would not use on a long ride personally but ok for commuting and night rides.

Re: Whats the most dangerous (legal UK) Rd you've ridden?

Re: Does anyone use a synthetic sleeping bag.?

I only use synthetic and have never used down in any product so cannot really compare the two side by side Until you get to sub zero they are comparable weights and sizes generally https://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/equipment-c3/sleeping-bags-c21/sleeping-bags-c88/synthetic-bags-t743 That has t...

If only this was STW

Good point that was very well made*.- I cannot refute that some roads are safer than others.

I still defend their right to do it though whilst refusing to do it myself for the reasons you note.

Re: Bonkers time triallists

at some point even a good driver wont see you, I accept your broad point that something could happen . However it is an inattentive driver who does this. The "good drivers killing cyclists" is reflected massively in cycling related deaths in courts. It is the "good drivers" sub standard driving tha...

Re: Bonkers time triallists

Being in the right isn’t much consolation when you’re dead. Blaming the victims isnt helpful either I just find it weird plenty think MTB is dangerous and plenty think it should be banned for damaging the countryside and here we cyclists are suggesting other cyclists should reconsider legal cycling...

Re: Bonkers time triallists

no one has ever died or been seriously injured while mountain biking.
False equivalency as we dont get run over by vehicles off road and every single MTB crash has been my fault - just not the same as the risks are totally different- though the outcome may be the same.

1) what size tyres fit on the road bike that are suitable for the ride you re doing - fit them and ride that 2) buy cheap 26 er frame use that with all your bits - I think your overall time will be similar but you will be slow up and faster down so not that convenient for a group ride with Adventure...
