Re: Hello

the options are 1) something disposable and replaceable like plastic wrap o a bike cardboard box and ditch when you get there and reacquire something for the return 2) storage of a proper bike box the later requires either 1) a specialist agency near a route - easier if its a popular route and was e...

Re: Alternatives to glitter as a sealant additive?

To try and form a clot around the hole. The manufacturers have thought of this and I dont really see the point in adding anything, if anything actually worked they would have done it by now As for top up it really depends but my rules of thumb are 1) When it loses air it must have run out 2) before...

Re: Dynamo setup cost

as noted it varies from cheap to not so I reckon £100-£500 depending Cheaper end is a shimano hub with replacement spokes and a rebuild using existing rim to lots for a new Boost son to a new rim. In the unlikely event he want a 26" QR wheel I can lend one with a tubeless set up. I keep meaning to r...

Re: Keeping feet warm while wet

woolie bollie socks are the best i have ever owned for staying warm when wet- they do need wringing out and the boot emptying when sloshing with water. Sealskins and their aldi counterpart i dont mind for commutes and the like but they are not very breathable IME or warm when wet I use wolfenhammer ...

Re: Tyvek insulation properties

American r values are 5 x the UK value so that r could well just be a summer mat with no insulation in it* https://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/r-value-explained-i206 Better mat being the solution there- i dont think anything else light weight will give a comparable r value to a winter sleeping m...

Re: Tyvek insulation properties

congrats you just proved that if you have some insulation there already it can improve it Unfortunately your question was about whether it insulates on its own not whether it can improve other insulators  I also go with none at all - have you see how thick it is not? What material, at that thi...

Re: Bar ends on loops? How wrong is it?

all my bikes used to have them till bars got stupidly wide they dont work on proper wide ones I used them on my confusious bars when bikepacking BUT the bar end has the tool kit and i like not having to dig for it. I honestly dont recall using them for hand position but i must have at some point. As...

Re: Possible Tent,

Seems ok for me but you can get better for a cheaper price as to how far you want to go on the reduce the weight of all your kit i am a bit MLEH on it as the best weight saving option I could do is to change the bike - probably cheaper as welll than getting all the lightest gear as well- so why worr...

Re: WTD outdry arms/cuffs

they are tight but not uncomfortably so - though I wear the leg ones - are marigolds tight enough you could try with them first ?

Agree those jackets are odd sizes - the small is pretty tight on me at the waist and not at all at the chest - in use they are superb though

The ‘turbo’ of spike tires. With up to 402 spikes it bites firmly into icy roads. The tungsten carbide core of each spike is clad in weight-saving aluminum. The tyre remains agile and sporty. Never tried mine but yes they are designed for icey conditions as you just described I bet they are slow an...
