Re: Adventure Travel Film Festival: I don't want to go but ...

I haven't been to this event specifically, but I did volunteer for the Banff Mountain Film Festival a few years ago when it came through Birmingham. I suspect it would be quite similar and I enjoyed it a lot more than I was expecting honestly. I seem to remember thinking that I would have been happy...

Re: A question that might be hard to answer - Scotland

I had never even heard of cleggs before. I'm wondering now if I have mistaken the cleg fly for a horse fly in the past.

There's been a lot of chat about Vitamin B helping as a repellent. I think it was maybe started by the makers of Marmite.
Covering yourself in a veneer of Marmite should lead to 50% fewer bites right?

Re: A question that might be hard to answer - Scotland

Is this scenario and precautuon specific to the west coast and being off road... Me and Composite will be riding to East side (Lejog arriving at JoG at last days of June I think). Do we need to carry repellant/precaution/midge jackets!! Its all road I was going to put some repellant and my head net...

Re: Exposure redeye extension

The 15mm one turned up and I can confirm that it technically works. I just plugged it inline from the dynamo to the Revo and the light came on as expected. Honestly, 15mm is sort of shorter than I expected... LOL  which is a stupid statement to write but here we are. I'm not sure it's actually...

Re: Suggest a jerket

I recently bought a Galibier Vu Winter Jacket and it become my favourite ever. If you want more/different protection, then they do other jackets that are waterproof, or windproof etc. It fits really well, I could easily get a short sleeve jersey under it, although it's not particularly packable or ...

Ah well, if that's the plug size, then this cable might do the job (if a bit long).

Edit: 50cm with a 90deg plug..

The 15mm right-angle one might be long enough for my use, thanks for the link.

Re: Exposure redeye extension

Would be very interested in this as well. When I put the saddlebag on the bike the wire isn't long enough to get to the loop at the end of the bag. I end up putting the red-eye on the right-hand seat stay which is not ideal. I have soldered a female connector on to my sinewave so I could use one cab...

Suggest a jerket

I'm looking for a new long sleeve top and tried out a Castelli Perfetto jersey/jacket. It was exactly what I was looking for... is it a jersey? Is it a jacket? It's sorta a bit of both. The only problem was the fit. It was a nice slim fit around the body and chest but too tight in the shoulders and ...

Re: DT Swiss Dropper Post

I have a Gravity Dropper on my Five. It was the only 27.2mm one around at the time. I really like it for the simplicity and it was great until I bought a Reverb for my lurcher and then realised just how much better the control is on the handlebar. I haven't replaced the Gravity dropper though and un...

Whatever you do, do not commit the crime that is a plaid shirt and Lycra shorts. :o I have a mock plaid shirt that is actually just a print on a normal cycle top that was a little joke to myself, but I don't think anyone gets it and they think I'm just a #gravelwanker... or more likely just a Taylo...

Re: Saddle sores

For road riding I have been using Assos chamois cream and its worked out pretty well for me. Anything up to about 200km and one application is enough. Anything longer than that I find a quick wipe off with a wet wipe and then reapply every 150km or so works out well. Never needed it for off-road rid...

He's coming from an ultra background so in that you wouldn't know where your competitors were unless they were in sight which is how I interpreted it. It does change the dynamic and the way you would race. In ultra running races they will turn their headlights off at night if there's someone catchi...

At the danger of rehashing discussions from last summer that no doubt went on during the TD when I was wasn't around, I'm going to bite. For someone who has a number of accusations of cheating against him, to say that winning is just not important to him beggars belief. When he was talking about the...

Re: Full frame bag users, water ?

Bladder in the frame bag. Its quite flexible that way. If you want all the frame bag space 'back' you can use your bladder in a hydration pack. If you want half of it back just half fill the bladder. My frame bag had a hose slot and my bladder a quick-release thing so it was easy to take the bag out...
