Re: The final instalment of the first chapter

That 2014 Bearbones200 was a really tough one. 26hours! it took me. First time I had done a single pull over 24hours. The hike-a-bike on that route was one of the few times I thought there were no redeeming features for what so ever. Much of the time a bit of tough hike-a-bike gets you somewhere nic...

Re: Battling the evil turbo

You have to really hate yourself to enjoy the Turbo. I managed an hour today just spinning while watching 30 Rock, but it was still rubbish. Normally I only do interval sessions on the turbo. Between the blowing out your arse and the trying not to puke it's much harder to get bored.

Still got my 2009 Orange Five. It's just a really fun bike to ride. I don't really ride it enough anymore but it's worth more to me for 5 or 6 rides a year, than what I would ever get for it selling it on. https://www.composite-projects.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/img_5397_edit_web.jpg https://...

Get a Manchester Terrier and plus its bed in the shed. A great ratter. Our cat made a surprisingly good ratter. Cleared out our shed. We were pretty shocked honestly. Cats always like you to think they're innocent. Don't fall for it. It was never innocence, more that she is mostly a house cat that ...

Re: bit of a strange 24 hours

My bike trip last week meant I was pretty much out of touch for 4 days. It felt odd when I got back and things had been ramping up. The last day was particularly strange as a lot of places I rode through were ghost town like and even main roads very quiet.

SPAR at Llanwrtyd Wells closed

Just a heads up for anyone who might be heading in that area and hoping to resupply at the SPAR in Llanwrtyd Wells. I got there about 6pm Saturday evening hoping to buy dinner and breakfast to cook at Tycornel, to find it surrounded by fences and closed up. The petrol station was closed as well and ...

Re: anyone else proper had enough of the weather?

The wind has been soul-crushing at times. Doing a 200 you can normally bank on 50-80km of headwind, and then the front wheel grabbing crosswinds.

The rain has often been heavy and not so pleasant but I can put up with that when I'm enjoying the ride. That wind tho...

I've gone with a half gravel setup for a 4 day trip planned for next week. New chain, massive cassette and some 35mm touring tyres for some extra comfort.

Recommend me some gloves

I'm looking for some new riding gloves. Full finger, spring/autumn weight I guess. Needs some padding in the palm and not too high a cuff either.

What do you recommend? :-bd
