Re: Newbie alert - bike recommendations

If it’s Specialized, then the Diverge will be a good gravel bike, tyres can go to ~42mm if my memory serves me well.

If not and you want a mountain bike, then the Epic (Hardtail) or Chisel will suit your needs. If your mates can get you a good deal on the Epic, then you’ll not regret it

Re: Bikepacking events, but not hardcore?

Don’t want to sound flippant but you could always organise one yourself. Just pick a meeting point and a route and invite people over one weekend.

Doesn’t have to be fancy, just tell people you’re riding from place A, to which pub/cafe etc and you’re away

Re: Single Speed Help...

I’ve never Correctly tensioned a SS, I’ve always put it on tight and never had a chain jump like that. I’ve tried using a cassette once to find the right SS gear for my fat bike but gave up on that idea after a day or so (the cassette) as it jumped off frequently. As Stu says, stick with a proper SS...

Had a quick setup of my bags to see how they would fit onto my (newish) bike. Very tight on the both ends

Love it! Obviously it’s great as an experiment and not something you’d do each weekend  Think I put the film down in films to watch during isolation, so I’m quite the fan. amazon man brought me a rather huge world map for the wall
Ohh. I want one of them. Which did you get?
I’ve had one from The Future Mapping Company, sometimes on sportspursuit, it’s 3m x 2m, which is a little bit big to frame, so it’s Velcro’d to the wall

I'm genuinely curious - why a double-ended zip? The only scenario I can put forward is the pee-over-bibs one.
Better for venting, open from the bottom zip and it prevents the best turning into a parachute. Better for fast roadies than slow mountain bikers but still works
