Coming up from South Devon on Friday and staying at Dolgadfan Farm too. Probably won't be riding Friday though...

Looking forward to the weekend!

Re: WRT Routes sorted yet ?

OK, now I am concerned... I am doing the full version, taking in 12 checkpoints. But, my route seems at least 20 miles shorter than others stated here... Having said that, I am only getting the distance from the OS web site... Oh well, it should be a good laugh! WIll just check my route to see how n...

Re: WRT Routes sorted yet ?

Hmm... 61 miles taking in 12 checkpoints...

OS Getamap says you can ride it in 10 hours!

Ha ha...

Looking forward to this now. Better test my gear before the Bank Holiday weekend methinks...

Re: WRT Routes sorted yet ?

Plotted a route that takes in 12 out of 14 points... No idea how far yet, as I drew the route on my map. Will probably transpose route onto BikeHike or similar to see how far it is. Though, thinking about it, that may put me off! Just in it for the ride. Never done it before so really looking forwar...

My Felt Q620 weighs 27lbs 11oz... Have added bar ends since then so probably just over 28lbs now I guess.

Re: Genesis Fortitude Race

Thank you chaps. I appreciate your thoughts... I got my present bike on the Cycle to Work Scheme so I am familiar with novelty wearing off before it finally being paid for. Having said that, I still love my bike. Apart from the 22 year old steel bike in the loft, it's the only bike I have. I think I...

Genesis Fortitude Race

OK then... Every time I look at potential new bikes to replace my 2010 Q620 26" wheeled Felt hardtail, I keep coming back to the Fortitude. I have now managed to find a 17.5" example to test ride and I really liked it. I like the "Race" variant, which is a 1x10 Derailleur setup... Nice and simple an...

Re: What's the cheapest way to get OS mapping on a GPS?

I scanned a map of Iceland in and stitched the images together to make one, whole country image. Then imported this into Memory Map and was able to calibrate it for GPS use. This was very successful when I took my Land Rover (memory map on laptop with bluetooth GPS receiver) there in 2007 and again ...

Re: Handlebar bag query

Thank you for the replies. It is something to think over... I will probably go for a seatpack harness first, as I don't have anything there yet. At present, it is dry bag on the bars and a backpack for everything else, except two 750ml water bottles on the frame.

Thanks again...

Handlebar bag query

I have a question. I typically put a one man backpacking tent into a suitably sized dry bag and strap it to my bars when I venture out for an overnighter on the bike. This seems to do the trick nicely. The only downside I have seen is that the bag rubs the steerer tube a bit. Nothing too serious, ju...

Re: So, rigid forks?

I replaced the worn out (less than 2 years old too) Suntour XCR 100mm forks on my Felt Q620 with Kona Project 2 rigid steel forks... Bike feels far more responsive, and I don't really notice the lack of suspension to be honest... Thinking about a Genesis Fortitude to replace the Felt nearer the end ...

New around these parts...

Hello all, I have been reading the forum for quite a while now. I finally registered today so I could join in the fun. Started riding again nearly 3 years ago after a 15 year break. Started again mainly to get fit and also because I wanted to go back to Iceland but needed to do it cheaply so thought...
