New bike day

I have just taken receipt of a very pleasing custom built steel bike made by a good friend who runs a very fine bicycle emporium in Paignton. Unfortunately, since the demise of free image hosting on Photobucket, I don't currently have any online image facilites. I have posted some pictures on his we...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

Phew... Seem to be making a habit of bivvying on the last night of the month! April BAM on the coast path not too far from home last night. Misty evening, misty morning... Good nights sleep though and surprisingly warm.

Re: Todays ride

OK, thanks...

I may well ask for a few route ideas then a bit nearer the time. Maybe half day sort of length out of Aviemore.

Last time I came, I went from just down from the CM car park, through the Lairig Ghru to Linn of Dee...

Re: Todays ride

I was thinking of bringing the bike with 44cm flared drops and 2.6" 650b plus tyres.

I am not sure if that would meet the "not a CX" or be suitable for a 70km road ride??

I shall probably just find nice places to ride on my own, especially now the entry is £50...

Re: Todays ride

If variety be the spice of life... Out for a quick (for me) blast on the actual road bike today. I have an event coming up that is 70km on road then 30km MTB, so thought I'd better check the bike is still in working order. Did 45km and, with it being such a lovely day, I took it upon myself to head...

I picked up a Mammot primaloft gilet in a sale some years ago and it is brilliant. I ride in sometimes and it also what I have sewn my BB200 patches onto.

All good,

Si

Re: In the shops next week I believe.

Lovely looking magazine. I read my copy cover to cover, which is the 1st time I have done that in a very long time. Lovely images, nice locations... However, all the bikes, equipment and clothing mentioned are at the upper end of the market. One of the bikes listed was over £8k. I don't think that's...

Re: Hot and Bothied

I watched this this afternoon. Lovely scenery, cracking looking route. I found the chap called Luke a bit of a whiner... Far too many bits and pieces dangling off their bikes too. All that banging and clanking around would drive me mad. Bottom line is though that they were out riding. Which is what ...

Blimey where did March go?? Didn't think I was going to make that. Squeezed in a cheeky bivvi out on the local coast path 2 miles from home. Alarm set for 5am to get home to bake today's batch of sourdough before going to the day job... https://www.instagram.com/p/Bvs7RuKDnFj/ Not a bad nights sleep...

I used my rack for the 1st time in 8 years yesterday to transport freshly baked loaves of bread in one pannier to hungry customers and quickly remembered why I don't like them! Removed from bike on the same day I fitted it.

Back to rucksack today.

This is a shame. I have a seatpack, which every time I use, makes me happy. It is seriously well made, well designed and does exactly what I want. I fit it and forget it, with full knowledge that it will do what it is supposed to do. An excellent product made by people who are clearly very keen on c...

Hi there,

They are only £21 new from On One at the moment...

Don't make the mistake I made and be impatient and pay full price (£43)... Which is why I won't sell mine, despite me taking them off the bike and not using them anymore...

Weather looking good, so I decided to head out before I ran out of February! Set off after dinner to the far North end of the bay. Found a nice spot in darkest Brixham and after a poke around Berry Head and checking out the lighthouse, settled down for the night. Not as cold as expected and had a lo...
