Re: These gps find your keys tracker things.

I think the Bluetooth ones will actually be more use because of the shorter range. Will your cousin actually get miles away from their keys? Better to know your keys are under 100 metres away, i.e. actually in your house. You can get ones that beep if you move your phone out of Bluetooth signal, sav...

Re: 29er Drop-bar Mountain Bike options

Presumably GRX will bring an end to bodging Shimano on drop bars (bar end shifters not withstanding) but SRAM road shifters and MTB mechs play together nicely as it stands. Once you're used to them neither Shimano or SRAM is "better" just different.

2k could buy you a Fargo plus another wheelset :-bd I love my Fargo and have done a lot of miles on it but in 2013 it cost £1300 for a complete bike. Freeborn are listing the 2020 Vagabond at £1099. A few years back they were very open to a deal on a (then) current year Caribou when I called up abo...

I was going to recommend a Lifeline headset from wiggle but they don't seem to sell them. I assume they are amalgamating their product line with CRC as these look very similar...

Re: Tyre Liners

I guess it makes sense if you are riding somewhere that you can't get tubeless spares or can't/won't go tubeless. I guess it also works if you want to use liners but don't want the hassle of packing them away if you do rip a tyre and need to put a tube in as these have the space for them.

making snidey comments and generally trying to discredit other riders. Especially if the other rider you're having a go at is sponsored by Specalized... who will threaten to take anyone to court if they think it's affecting their business. Phone call to Salsa... Like Scotroutes says, set your GPS to show overall average speed and distance covered. The brevet card should tell you the controls and the time window you should arrive at them. When you reach a control just make sure you have a look at when the next one is so you don't ride past an info control. I...

Try ear plugs. Worked for me.

Rub with patch glue, leave for a few minutes. Roll up, stuff in hole. Trim as needed.

I have, wait for it....THE MEGAPLUG! I've used it twice. In the centre of the tyre it worked seamlessly. Second time in the sidewall and on a different tyre, it didn't work. But that tyre had a slow leak and I think the flexing worked it out. When I put the tube in the brass cap had come off. ...

I wouldn't use duct tape, the residue will be a nightmare to clear. If you are just doing it for a temporary measure electrical tape lasts ok and peels off just fine.

Yeah, I'd have thought he'd have kept his nose out considering his own TD record film, the snowmobile and the sail.

I took mine with me and used them on the ride. Were actually helpful for the big picture versus just using (trusting) the Garmin. Consequently they're in tatters! Treat yourself to new ones, it keeps the ACA ticking over and they do some cool stickers too. :-bd

Re: Dynamo - Plug 3- Which battery?

Keep the ones you've got but take a charger and top up in cafes. Quite a few places on the route have charger sockets outside that you can cheekily tap into, even if they are shut. Might not charge much uphill/flat but there's a decent number of long descents!
