Re: Virtual BAM ... you know you want to

I'd been thinking about getting back in on the BAM action then, just as my back got better (vaguely working and without 24/7 pain), BOOM, it's only the blimmin' end of the world as we know it... :-bd So, in theory, I'm interested in a garden-based BAM and quite possibly up for doing it on a set nigh...

Re: If we close up for a bit...

Yep. There's a bit of self-fulfilling prophecy about it. I watched it happen in Italy and Spain saying to mates here that we'd better be careful otherwise we'd be next. Then it came here and everybody took the piss and now it's 1 hour per day of outside time only within 1km with a form filled in to...

I reckon everyone knows a full lock down is coming anyway and are simply looking to make the most of what freedom they have before it is taken away from them.
Thus ensuring that it happens :-bd

Re: If we close up for a bit...

So because people are treating this as a holiday it wont be long before none of us are cycling more than 10 mins from our house... and yeah, we could stay indoors significantly more than we apparently are. But it seems we're willing to do it up to the point where we decide it negatively affects our...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

I'll tell you what I did to my bike today..... .....I blimmin' well rode it! Admittedly it was around the garden participating with my 6 and 8 year olds on an MTB skills course I've made for them. Highlights include: the balance beam (1m long, 10cm wide, 10cm off the ground), the seesaw, the tree st...

Re: Project Virus

I have 98% of the equipment I need to build my new 50 litre home brewery, but I'm now working from the brew shed. If I build it, I've got no where to put it and no room to brew... 🤷‍♂️ This is perfect! I have space and thirst but no brewing kit. You work out the postage, I'll pay it and every wins,...

rather assumes the UK population wish to heed the advice - seems like they did not yesterday with the first bit of nce weather
Which, based on recent UK choices and behaviour, seems a tad naive, no?

^ what he said!

Pretty much what I've been saying.

There's trying not to worry people, easing in new rules so as to not startle folks etc... and then there's procrastinating and doing nowt to the extent that you've missed the boat.

A real shame as some are over 200 years old and chopping them up for firewood seems sacrilege.
Damn it, nooooo!

I'm a cabinet maker, what's the chance my note to leave the house for work purposes would cover me driving down there to pick up a few trees worth of wood???

Re: If we close up for a bit...

Anyone thinking a lockdown may happen soon, very soon? Despite not even living in the UK any more I'm genuinely bemused/shocked/terrified that it's taken this long for BJ and buddies to do anything meaningful at all. I effectively can't cycle at all right now and have no idea when it'll next be a p...

Pump track build in the garden? I reckon if you use a small spade and do it manual that will get you fit

Re: If we close up for a bit...

Oh no :( Was there a specific catalyst for this move or was it always coming? They said gentle exercise not far from home. Then they specified NOT training and not too far or remote in response to people taking the piss. So folk carried on. And now things are the same as in Italy and Spain - way to...

Well that's that!

No recreational cycling at all here in France now.

Selfish ass-hats who just couldn't help themselves by being reasonable have ruined it for everyone.

See you on the other side of lockdown.....

Re: I did not sleep well that night.

My two favourite crap nights out: 1. Chased up a tree (in only my shreddies) by a family of about 20 wild boar. I sat there shouting at them getting colder and colder as they ignored me and wandered round, nibbled my kit and generally did whatever they wanted until they got bored and wandered off. 2...

+1 to what James said. My parents are old, knackered and don't look after themselves (and my dad has respiratory issues). Many other friends and relatives who're in high risk positions too. Re: You already know this, but.....

Interesting stuff! Made me think and I realise now that I've become a bit flippant with my kit over the last few years. Even with the day riding where I live it's entirely possible to find yourself in deep doo-doo very quickly and I historically have always carried a healthy amount of kit with me on...

HireSquire

Morning all,

I saw this on the facebook and thought it worth sharing:

https://hiresquire.co.uk/

It's a subscription based outdoors kit lending/sharing scheme with the emphasis on lowering the environmental impact of getting out into the hills etc...

Worth a look and a noble aim, no?
