Re: The (fat) cat sat (slept) on the....?

 You around next Saturday? Might be passing through Les H. Going to try the TBM/Haute Route combo again. A week tomorrow? If so then yes, fancy having two pints more than you should before setting off? You're welcome to camp here or crash on the sofa too. PM/email me if you like and we can di...

Re: The fat cat sat (slept) on the....?

Gairy, I've got the Synmat Winterlite and my wife has the Synmat HL (Hyperlite?) - I think it's the mummy shaped version of the UL. She's used it in the Arctic at -16C and not moaned about the cold so I presume it's OK. That was with a 3 season bag with a 2 season quilt as wrapper so not using a fu...

The (fat) cat sat (slept) on the....?

.....that's right, it's another 'what mat?' thread :-bd I'm about to begin a year long, full-time, high-end cabinet makers course and it's far enough away from home that I plan to spend two nights a week there to cut down on travel time and expense. I'll also have far fewer opportunities to ride/biv...

Re: Hot and bothered

I'm with Duncan, I love the hot weather! Knackered joints ache less and much less hassle with cold muscles needing to be stretched etc... But.....I'm never going flat-out and so I wonder how much of my ability to maintain my regular 'performance' in all weathers is due to the fact that I'm never doi...

Re: Fatfighters 2019 Weigh-in Thread

Howdy all! Not only have I been blimmin' useless with regards to all things do to with eating and drinking but.....unforgivably I've not been keeping up with this thread for the last week or two. Currently in the UK for a wedding and so I'll get back on it when I get home mid next week. Much weight ...

Faceache says he spent the day giving police statements etc... and will be carrying on but who knows.

Crappy bit of wrong place, wrong time luck.

Re: Looks like Carradice have some new things...

The whole thing looks decidedly half-arsed. What bike happens to be nearby? That'll do. Backdrop? Don't worry about it, who cares? Showing the products in a positive way? Not bovered, it's only bikepacking. To be fair I can't even comment on the style/design of the products as I left the site after ...

Mike I’m running a microshift barend on SRAM Eagle 12 speed, nice kit and a great dropbar solution :-bd Here's my solution: https://advntr.cc/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/20190707_105654-768x576.jpg.webp Even assuming you spend an appropriate amount of time on the drop (as almost nobody does) you've ...

Re: Silk Road Mountain Race (SRMR)

Not been following with any consistency but looks like James Haydon is now up into 2nd place, no? Read a race report on Instagram this morning that said he was coming through the field but that's an impressive stint to get where he now is. Not that I condone bikepacking racing or anything  Def...

Re: That Might Explain it ...

I had exactly this in 2006. All the same symptoms plus gastro issues and after extensive tests (blood, urine, stool, endoscopy, colonoscopy etc...) they said there was nothing wrong except that I wasn't absorbing B12. They said that I should by all means eat more and take supplements but, seeing as ...

Re: Peak District Wild Camping

How long are you around for? Pint? Ride? No bike this time - feels weird being without a bike, I don't like it! I'm getting in to Sheffield tomorrow evening and leaving Sunday morning. Saturday is full of stag do bobbins so only option to grab a pint would be if you could make it to where we'll be ...

New Kona 'Unit X' looks very BP friendly :)

As per the title, the new Kona 'Unit X' looks very bikepacking friendly and not too spendy to boot :-bd Not sure how the prices come out once they've been shipped to blighty??? Lovely looking bike (though not the finish/colour I'd have chosen). I'm really enjoying the resurrection of the 29+ platfor...

Bugger! That nugget of news never made it to France. Glad everything is back to normal again and hopefully not much was damaged.

Trails should be fine Gairy. My point was more about travelling between places as many roads were completely shut. However, I believe life has returned to normal now.

Aaah, I hadn't heard about that. We'll be heading in/out by train so assuming that's all clear.

Was it local flooding?

Re: Peak District Wild Camping

Might be giving the Peak District a miss at the moment  Morning all, quick thread hijack if it's not too cheeky..... Good effort, nice to have you back onboard. Re: strava. yay or nay?

Mine has two pages of 'created segments' but I've never created a single one (intentionally) and so can only assume that somewhere deep in the belly of the beast there's a clickable thingy that at some point has been en-clickened and not creates segments at certain times, under certain circumstance...

Re: strava. yay or nay?

Strava doesn't auto-create segments It has auto-created for me. I have a KOM where I'm the only person to have ridden the segment. I didn't create the segment. Me too. That's what I'm saying, it's only me and I've never created a segment (unless there's a setting that I'm unaware of that means I'm ...

Re: strava. yay or nay?

It's in us or it isn't. If you're a speed freak or like to ride competitive, you'll always find a way to do just that. Strava won't change your behaviour (perhaps amplify what's there already). Totally agree. To me Strava has nothing to do with performance or competitiveness and so I find it odd th...

Just saw a notice on Strava saying that they're having slow server issues and that some stuff isn't working at the minute and do maybe that's why everything disappeared???
