Re: Get yourself seen

I am both a driver and a cyclist, I'm certainly not a nob  Perhaps I'd didn't explain my experience particularly well so I won't be to too offended. ;) I never said it stops oncoming traffic, I said oncoming traffic slows down. Whilst the light is bright (as is dipped car light), it's angled ...

Re: Get yourself seen

That's probably because they can't see when they're completely dazzled!! Possibly! I think it may have more to do with the fact that, what looks like a car light is moving in an erratic way (I.e. not like a car) Bit like when you see a big tractor or combine coming towards you, looks like an...

Re: Get yourself seen

I have an overly bright light I bought for trail riding. It's pretty obnoxious if you are riding with others and I will often cover it if I think it's causing a problem to oncoming traffic. One thing I have noticed though, it confuses drivers because they can't work out what's coming so will often s...

Re: WTD Cheap Garmin GPS or similar

How about a Bryton One? It's cycle specific but may suit your needs.

Under £50, ipx7 and bluetooth sync to your phone so no mucking about transfering gpx files with cables etc.

I recently bought a 10. Originally just wanted a wireless speedo but the price is so keen I went for GPS instead.

Re: Recommend 3-4 man family bikepacking tent

I have an LT3 too. Used it backpacking and bike packing. Agree, it good quality and good value for money. Not the lightest but you can't have all three. The only thing I don't like is the door in the rain, you have to make a quick exit/entry. Cavernous for two so I imagine the 4 will be cathedral li...

Re: Simple drop bar conversion

What about running cable calipers with your drop setup? I have a pair of midge bars and tektro levers with cable discs attached. When I want to swap to flats I remove the bars, calipers, shifters and cables and do a straight swap with my flat bars, hydro calipers, shifters and cables/pipes. Guess it...

Re: Seatpack improvements - simple, but effective

Had a look at mine last night. I realised I've been using it differently of late. Mine definitely came with two straps, one to hold the roll top as in your mod and the other to strap to the saddle. Funny enough, of late, I have been using a much larger saddle pack and sliding the alpkit bag in. Mean...

Isn't that how it's supposed to be used anyway?

I'm sure mine came with the necessary strap already. Going to have to rummage in the garage now just to check I've got an overactive imagination.

Re: OT: kids bike advice

Same story here. My daughter had a new Beinn. When we sold it the price of a new one had gone up and we got all the money back. She then moved to a frog bike. Not as good quality but still nice, I imagine it's on a par with a Hoy. Same thing happened with the money when sold. Think those 2 bikes cos...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

The Traverse does look like a cracking deal. I've also been on the look out for a gravel bike that will take a wider tyre.

I almost pushed the button on the Traverse myself yesterday, the thing that's holding me back is that it looks a bit slammed on the front for a man of my age.

Yeah, it's not going to win any beauty contests. The looks don't really upset me though. It wouldn't be my only ride. I have a carbon roadie and hard tail and a full sus that I've not ridden for a long time. I was thinking of swapping out the fs and replacing it with a winter roadie / gravelly type ...

Re: WRT entry open

This is what happened last time she followed me in Wales; 4 miles of uphill, unrideable gloop.

I was in charge then, I'm sure she'll be pleased to take control this time

That was 3 years ago, I'm assuming Wales will have dried out since then.

Re: WRT entry open

Mentioned wrt to my 10 yr daughter tonight, she thought it sounded great. She clearly has no idea what she'd be getting into but liked the idea of cake. We're cool wild camping / bivvying. We can handle some type 1.5 fun but I'm not she is ready for full-on type 2 just yet. Would 'lite' be doable?
