Re: WRT Grid Refs ... are out.
There's an island in the reservoir about 50m from the shore. Its always been on the list to see if was possible to get across there. I now regret not entering this year as there seems to be a swim involved but if I don't devote some of 2015's bank holiday weekends to long overdue house maintenance ...

Re: Bivvy a month 2015
Another none-bike bivi I'm afraid, but possibly one of at least two this month so I'll take wheels next time. We headed up to Dartmoor on Friday afternoon, and took in the spring sunshine before descending down into the (bike unfriendly) River Dart gorge, now in shadow. https://farm8.staticflickr.co...

Re: Bivvy a month 2015
2/2 - Got February's in. Sub zero, but not as cold as a recent Dartmoor bivi. I skied out into the Nordmarka (forest north of Oslo) along the 'street lit' trails until I left them and steered by head torch. A navigational error meant I didn't end up where I'd intended, but it all looks the same in t...

I was also thinking that an ITT of the TMB (Tour of Mont Blanc) route might be on the cards (the best time would likely be sometime in the first two weeks of September when it's not too busy but the weather is still good). I hadn't seen this before. I'm also planning on doing the TMB around the wee...

Re: PSA Brittany Ferries
Strange you should post that 'cos I've just booked a few days over in Brittany (Plymouth - Roscoff) around the weekend the TdF passes through. My return date falls just outside the scope of the 55 quid offer cut off, so it's costing me an extra 30 notes, but an early summer road bike bivi trip is no...

Re: Ford Fiesta Thank You Stu and Dee.
Thanks to Stu & Dee for the cake, toast & tea. Nice to meet a few more faces (although we didn't see many others once we were out in the hills or cafes). I proved that I can do a winter bivi in atrocious weather without a bivi bag  and also I brought my kids back two great presents fro...

Re: Looking for a more breathable bag
After a night in an Alpkit hunka I need something more breathable. The inside was soaking and the down bag was also wet through. Disappointed to hear this. I was thinking of getting a Hunka 'cos I'm finding my Rab Survival Zone bag a bit wet in the mornings these days. I've settled on two different...

My old project! My clunkeresque raw Giant Stonebreaker shortly before I took it apart a few years ago to re lacquer it and never got around to putting it back together. I'm looking to do a bivi ride up on Dartmoor sometime between Baby Jesus's birthday and NYE if anyone else cares to join us. If not then I'm definitely up for a trans Devon/Dartmoor weekender sometime after the Ford Fiesta.

I've just clocked the name. Should I assume that you've gained sponsorship from one of the larger multinationals or should I be mentioning thigh length Sealskins in my letter to Santa??

Re: Road/CX lightweight bikepackers - let's see 'em
What sort of spoke count have you guys got on your wheels? I'm running FSA rd-460 disc cyclocross wheels on mine but with 24 spokes radiating from each hub I'm a bit nervous about loading the bike up with additional weight for a multi-day bikepacking raid.

Re: is anyone actually training for BB200?
Not really. I'm probably going to have to pull out of a triathlon I'm doing in September due to injury. The Hell of the West Cyclo X trans Dartmoor in the run up to BB200 has now been cancelled (shorter than the BB200 but a vital barometer of my form). I don't think I've actually cycled since someti...

Hi Dave, sorry for the late reply. I've been accessing the internet on a smartphone so not been able to post stuff without the bother of doing it on a tiny screen. The trip from Kingswear to Brixham is one of my favourites too, in fact, I might do it this coming Sunday if the weather's OK. Anyway, l...

Re: Any kayak packers on here?
I'm just across the other side of the River Dart on the estuary there. I'd be up for a trip as I haven't done a canoe bivi so far this year and most of my fellow kayakers want to go home at the end of the day to a 'proper' bed. I've got some time off between the 15th and 21st of September if you're ...
