Re: iHarbort buffer battery
I bought an iHarbort as a buffer battery on the basis that it was capable of pass through charging. However, my smartphone was never happy when my wheels stopped turning, so I'm under the impression that it's not really capable of pass through. I didn't send mine back. as I discovered the issue shor...

Re: Todays ride
Jambo, is the ground frozen solid up on the high ground? We're off there later on a pedestrian bivi (forgive us Lord, but Saturday family run around logistics rule out bikes!).
Obviously the solidity of the ground will determine where we can roll out our beds for the night.

Re: Shimano MT91 Goretex SPD Boots - £65 Posted
Hi,
yes, they're size 47. Sorry for the lack of clarity. I edited the post title and removed the shoe size in the process.
Preferbly paypal to richardlowerson@hotmail.com and I'll get them in the post first thing tomorrow. If not, then a bank transfer will be fine.
Thanks,
Rich.

Shimano MT91 Goretex SPD Boots - SOLD
Great condition! Used for one BB winter event and a couple of Dartmoor overnighters. I'm a size 11 (46) and usually size up to a 47 in Shimano. However, these are just little bit too small for me, with my left big toe occasionally touching the inside so I've sized up to a 48. Probably fine for a som...

Re: Winter Bivvy South West - Details
Thanks for taking the initiative Si :-) I've pencilled this one in the domestic calendar and, failing any sudden last minute Christmas events being sprung on me, should be able to make it. However, I might not be free to start as early as you intend, so may need to get the possible bivvi site GRs of...

I'm not exactly sure what the OP's problem is 'cos I'm not currently wearing my reading glasses and it's all a bit of a blur, but..... My eyesight has worsened to the state that I can't read a 1:50000 scale map without reading glasses. However I noticed that on a recent WRT royAB had a minimalist pa...

65 km from Plymouth Hoe and up onto Dartmoor & back, during which I managed to smash my smartphone and lose my sunglasses in an unfortunate not-unclipping-from-my-SPDs-fast-enough sideways tumble. So, no Strava or Instagram for a while :-( https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5810/21942500015_e55922ec...

Re: TMB - a Ride of Three Halves
If my son takes a break from his Xbox and frees up some bandwidth in our village then I'll upload my photos from the trip! It's a testament to the properties of alpine cuisine (mainly sausages & cheese) that you can spend a week cycling around mountains & climbing the best part of 10000 metr...

Finished it yesterday so off to redo half of it in the opposite direction with Gairy & zerodarkbivi. I've just bought an extra pair of thermal longjohns 'cos my sleeping bag is a bit too meagre for the recent drop in nightime temperature

Re: Smart Phone GPS Logging App?
I've got the Viewranger app and didn't realise it would log tracks! I usually only use it to check possible routes when cycling in unfamiliar areas. I'll give it a whirl at lunchtime. Cheers.

Smart Phone GPS Logging App?
I usually record my rides on Strava but always have trouble with the Strava app when on holiday, Wales being the only foreign country it seems to work in ;-) Quite often the problem seems to be Strava logging me out when I'm on roaming, and refusing to let me log back in if there's no internet acces...

Those pictures look good. I might have to chuck my mountain bike over into the field behind my house and pack my road bike instead ;-) Thinking of doing the second half of the TMB (offroad version)....... if you are up for it Mr Slugwash (get a lift through the tunnel to Italy and then ride the TMB ...

Re: TMB in September
I'd suggest Belvue lift instead if Brevent as you'll be a fair way off route if you take that one ;) The idea is to catch the last lift of the summer up to Brevent, lose a lot of altitude in a fun way down towards Les Houches, then pick up the TMB trail along past Les Contamines before heading to R...

So, there's now a posse of five intrepid & chivalrous knights of the knobbly tyre departing from Chamonix (by way of the last Le Brevent lift of the season) for adventure and conquest through three separate countries before returning (midweek) to press gang Gairy out on a high altitude bivi or t...

Re: TMB in September
Just a little update.... We're starting it on Sunday 20th with the lift up to Brevent, down to Les Houches, and back up along the TMB route for the first night. Two of us are doing it over three nights to be back for Wednesday 23rd (One refuge stop but hopefully bivi the other nights). Two others ar...
