Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike

Just a note to say that a number of the TINAT audax rides for 2019 are now open for entry. We are still working on the routes with a high off road content.

Re: Highland Trail 2019

Seems Alan was kind enough to give me a place so I can exorcise my 2013 demons. Now, where do I find a list of bothies on route?

Re: Fatfighters 2019 Weigh-in Thread

I have a target of 70kg in time for the HT550. I'll be using the service of weight watchers as the only way I can loose weight is to keep a diary of everything I eat and drink with weekly ritually humiliation of the group session. I'll be having my first official weigh on the 9th but I suspect I'm c...

Re: Spot Tracker Wanted thread.

Hi, getting my planning in early. I need a tracker for the HT550 late May 2019. Should I try and borrow one/hire one/buy one?

TINAT 2019 | 15th - 16th June

For anyone that feels this way inclined, I've just posted some details of plans for next year TINAT rides. http://tinat.cymru/2018/10/21/tinat-2019/ . As with this year, these are primarily audax rides and not mtb rides so the off-road/gravel content is minimal and rather technically benign. If you ...

Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike

Thanks to everyone that came to Wales this weekend to rides bikes in hard terrain to remember Mike. The grimace on some faces and all the socialising after would have made him smile, as it did us. And to those that didn't make it, you missed a great weekend. Next time maybe? Ps. There will be less f...

Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike

Also, if you want a little more off road on the 300, and 400 routes you could divert over the Hergest Ridge on the offas path directly to the West out of Kington. It was on our very first draft route but we removed it through fear of being a bit 'to much' for an audax.

Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike

There is very limited parking at Highland Moors Hotel. Don't park there unless you are staying there. The parking plan kind off went tits up at the last minute. We are exploring options including schools. Keep an eye on the Facebook thread.

Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike

I’m booked on the 400km; however, reading the route is mainly road can’t be arsed. So, if transferable someone can have my space. I have no desire to ride yet more road ....just had approx 1,000 miles of that riding Le Jog. I hear you, its a lot of road for an audax. Out of courtisy, email the even...

Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike

There are a few more main road sections than I'd have liked but sometimes working within audax regulations doesn't help with avoiding the big roads. But please feel free to take which ever route you wish between controls. On another note, having just ridden the 600km route, I was quite happy to have...

Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike

I'm doing a recce of the 600km route this weekend to get a little insight to what you guys will be going through in a couple of weeks time. Also didn't think it right to have put together a route for others to ride without having a go at it myself. I might fail. We shall see.

How about Conti Speed Kings? I've found these fast yet surprisingly grippy - http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/TYSCGS1RGF/schwalbe-g-one-speed-raceguard-folding-tyre Thing is I did a ride on the CX bike today and changed my mind again. How does one stop being fickle? By only having one bike and no money.

Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike

James - I have entered the 100km ride on the Saturday but will be around all weekend. Does this give me entry to the social for food etc.? It is the only distance not mentioned! Or do I pay as a spectators on the Sunday? All riders get food and drink irrespective of the distance entered. Just an ov...

Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike

Just looking at details of other rides included and noticed a start time of 05.45 for one and another at 06.00. Are these mass starts or is that a route open time? They are indeed listed as having different start times. That was the original plan, but we may move to a town center based mass start o...

Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike

I love that this has already descended into a "what tyres" thread :) I pose the question: where is the best chippy en route? FWIW, I'll be on the Cutty with 2.1 Nanoraptors. That's the great thing about these rides. The endless consideration of what tyres to use and what chippy to head fo...

Its with a real glum face that I confirm our race long leader Josh as a scratch. Spoke to him on the phone, he's fine and safe if a bit sleepy. Looks like his suspension linkages are toast - not sure if it's just the bearings or if they snapped. Either way, he is out. He sounded surprisingly chippe...

That's a real shame! I hope all the hard work does lead to an event latter in the year. But thanks for your efforts so far as it's motivated me too loss some weight and up my fitness in preparation. OK, now to plan my own 250 miles of English chalk byway gravel ride that I've had in my head for a co...
