Stop showing shiny things!
That DJI Neo looks ace for the price.
And the X4 looks quality.
I'm very tempted by both, but want, rather than need.
Btw, @johnClimber I learned the other day while out on the fat bike that we've a mutual friend in Jim(nesia)

Re: Installing Ratio Technology
I had a few problems fitting a large ratio cassette as one needs a different freewheel body. Glad you sorted it but for reference, you can get 'large ratio' cassettes for most freehub bodies: I'm old school and still have Shimano HG on most my wheels. You just tend to lose out on the smallest cog o...

I looked into kite making once, and think I was going to use them, but it never came to anything so can't actually recommend, mind.

… and you all had to go all out Viet-Cong style. I was telling someone about Strata Florida a little while back and they nonchalantly dismissed it and said they'd ridden it as part of the Blaenau 600. Fair play I thought, until I checked the details of that route against what we rode and … you were...

Re: Alt/h-bar sanity check
Thanks for the suggestions so far. I think that neither the Velo Orange nor Tumbleweed bars have any reach, which the h-bar styles kinda do by nature of the swept forward brace. I wish WhatBars was more of a going concern and had side profiles too. Height is quite important with the 45 degree sweep ...

Re: BB200 2024
I'm not interested in "easy" and the challenging nature of the event is why i signed up again, but there's no need for riding along a river or endless hike a bike in sheep sub standard to make an event challenging. There's "no need" for any of this but it what we do with or with...

Alt/h-bar sanity check
I'm having a bit of a rethink of my handlebar setup in an attempt to alleviate some ulnar nerve issues I've experienced after multi-day rides. I'm thinking of switching the wide and flared Ritchey Beacon XL drops on my Cotic Cascade for some Jones H-bar (or knock-off equivalents) swept back ones. Tr...

+1 for the cx70 front mech. I use this with my 10 speed 2x Gevenalle setup with a long SLX mech, 11-36 cassette, and Praxis crank with sub-compact chainrings.

I reckon there are some army surplus ones that'd be great for this. I've seen something like these at a local place and was tempted.

Re: BB200 2024
I'm in. But I signed up while still in hospital, staring at the ceiling, and ripped to the tits on codeine. It remains to be seen how race ready I'm gonna be although ~7 weeks on I'm tentatively back on the bike at least. We'll see …

Re: Pain and suffering
I see some bridleways round our way stuck in somewhat a viscous circle: If they don't get ridden they become overgrown/If they are overgrown they don't get ridden. I try to ride them all once in a while no matter how bramble and nettle strewn they are, and complain to the parish councils too, but ki...

Re: Bar roll ‘extras’ bag
The other thing I've done is to use my Aiguille bum bag's daisy chain loops to attach to the front roll's straps. That's kinda handy as it'll double up as a regular bum bag should the need arise. Maybe fixing a daisy chain to any suitable bag could be an easy win?

Re: Bar roll ‘extras’ bag
I've got the Salsa EXP Series Front Pouch that marries up with the Anything Cradle dry bag. It came with the cradle set , and I don't actually use it that much as unless full everything in it rattles around too much. Your suggested purchase looks like it'd negate this by being of softer construction...

Belatedly Shaf, but I’ll buy into a Happy Monday … I had a big off on Sunday. CT shows 5 broken vertebrae, so confined t...
