Re: When?????
The problem is that 1 or 2 people social distancing from each other and found bivi'ing on an empty hill top with no one for miles around will be easier to charge, fine and make an example of over an angry raging crowd. I don’t understand the paranoia over this. Who’s going to find you? And how is t...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
Is there anything stopping me from signing up to free trial of strava, creating loads of routes and saving the files to my pc/Garmin then ditching it when the trial ends and keep the routes? I can still see routes i've planned in the past. I had thought about going down that route, but I plotted a ...

Re: Are all braze on clamp adapters equal??
I'm assuming a GRX chainset is of the 68mm road variety so doesnt need any spacers.
I'm also assuming theres no lateral movement on the crank?
Looks like its just a case of adjusting the limit screws on the front mech?

2nd City Divide
All being well, and things moving in the right direction, i'm planning on riding this route in late August.
Just trying to decide if its better to take a gravel or mountain bike?
I know what the second section is like, but does anyone have any experience of the section north of Alston?

Re: GBDURO goes from self-supported to self-sufficient
Has anyone noticed how little surface water there is about at present? I cant really remember us having any significant rain over the past 3 months? Reservoirs are half full around here. Doubt they have thought about it really. We have chosen to announce this rule set now (22 May 2020), rather than...

Re: Stupid ideas you can't shake.
Turns out it's a 190mile monster, and some people did it in 105 hours. This is sufficiently close to 100 to make me think that being the first to get it under 100 hours would be an excellent thing to ... I had thoughts of run/walking up the Pennine Way from Edale up to Hebden, but that puts...

Re: If we close up for a bit...
what's the situ with the IoW tracing application. They've gone rather quiet about it. I think the silence is due to it not going very well. Issues with the app itself, either not being secure or not working on the large number of phones available. Also I dont think uptake was particularly large eno...

Re: If we close up for a bit...
This is ok right? It 'feels' ok. Just do it Dave The guidance is that generic that no-one really has a clue what we should be doing, so just do what you feel is right. Dont know what its like in other areas, but up here i've not heard about anybody being stopped. As a precaution i'd print out some ...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
A rather delightful ride out around the bits between Otley and Harrogate.
Some great little roads and times where i honestly didnt know where I was.
Dont think i've ever regretted an explorer ride
2 targeted rides will get me to 30x30

Re: If we close up for a bit...
This is the bit that I'm confused by, if it's not Law how can it be enforced in the courts? Otherwise were in a position where ministers can dream up anything they like and have the courts enforce it, which is not how I understand our legal system, and democracy to work. It would be the same way as...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
Being sandwiched between the Peak District and South Pennines i'm usually hampered by a few awkward squares, so have been focusing on riding new places and playing the long game of just picking up new tiles and letting my max square grow at it its own pace. Currently on 27 x 27, but have a ride plan...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
Shall we start a little leaderboard? You dont need to, its in VV already, just with Strava names rather than BB names People just need to join the BB Strava club https://www.strava.com/clubs/bear-bones-bikepacking Then on VV, go: Summary > Overall/Club Leaderboards > Clubs = BB >All Years > Explore...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
Suggestions are to use:
https://brouter.de/brouter-web
<Load>, <Tracks>, <Your VV .kml file>
Allows you to plot in your missing tiles and from there you can plot a route.
Only an initial play around, but looks promising

It would appear that you only achieve a tile if its a ride not a walk.

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
If we don't subscribe to Strava do we no longer get the veloviewer tiles ? I looked at yesterdays ride and it hadn't updated my tiles with the new areas visited. I pay for VV but isn't that just one man writing the code? Yes. If you have the technical skills you can pull the data from Strava yourself. Ben just started playing around with that, and started to share it around and its slowly grew into what it is today. Part of that has been around the good des...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
Reading between the lines VV has good relationship with Strava with 70% of users already being subscribers to Strava. Without Strava, VV wouldn’t exist, and I’m sure that Ben won’t want to bite the hand that feeds him, so I wouldn’t be expecting and data input/export that isn’t solely linked to Stra...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
I was going to ask the same question too.
Not going to go premium with Strava so will need to find a work around for plotting explorer routes.
You can download the KML file for the squares data, its which planning resource to use?
