Nice one Phil. You're not the only one to mention the midges.

It gets easier as they get older though, right.

Shimano MT91 size 43 - sold
Which is what I am, except not in Shimano. Shame because I was chuffed to find these nearly new but hopefully they'll fit someone on here. https://i.postimg.cc/qz4DP5MH/Screenshot-20250609-151506.png https://i.postimg.cc/xc5pn3cJ/Screenshot-20250609-151524.png https://i.postimg.cc/qg8ZZTrG/Screensho...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2025
That was the last weekend of that long stretch of good weather. Can't believe how it flipped for the HT550.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2025
As mentioned further up the thread I was running out of month, though not for complete lack of effort. A couple of nights on cub camp where, the weather being glorious, the tarp was more for show, then a night in the bothy at Barrisdale in Knoydart to get away from the midges, and finally a night un...

Hoping to get out before the end of the month hits. Done three bivvies and a bothy but none that count.

Re: Packing kit on forks, alternative methods and ideas?
I've used these to good effect on both frame and forks, except I used VHB tape to stick them in place and insulation tape to hold them there.

Nightmare. Hardly lame though, 155 miles in those conditions with a dodgy brake.
(lame would be failing to get yourself together for even a local bivvy this weekend)

Looks like it unfortunately. What are the rules in the event of a mechanical? Are you allowed to take it to a bike shop?

And brought a pair of practically brand new Shimano MT91s. https://i.postimg.cc/QxbBQ3m0/PXL_20250521_180652796.jpg I think this is my fourth pair. They don't make them any more and I snapped these up as soon as I saw them on t'bay. Oh, and a tandem. https://i.postimg.cc/Wz74wGGh/IMG-20250521-WA0002...

Re: Handlebar accessory bar thingamajigs
Downside and I think most of these are similar, it’s oversized one side and standard on the other side, so means bulking out the light bracket for it to fit properly. Use two? One mounted to the bars and a second one reverse mounted to that, with a section of oversized handle bar to take your light...

Re: Handlebar accessory bar thingamajigs
I used a cheap eBay one to actually lift up a bar bag recently and it worked OK, plus to mount a light.

Sure it'd be a laugh on the bigger tyres. How long are you planning to do it? I want to get into doing longer, multi-day trips and local is good as time is limited.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2025
Enjoyed reading the dedicated post :-bd My April BaM was a bit less interesting than others to date and no pics because I didn't have my glasses. Threw the bare minimum into a rucksack and went back to a patch of community woodland I used in November 2023 and failed to reach in November 2024, which ...

Re: Front Bar Cradle
I use a Restrap bumper bar which worked well on the old bike but the new one has a shorter head tube and rubbing is an issue so I'm considering a cradle of some sort.
