Re: Coed y brenin and Nant yr Arian to close?

A brief message from my contact ... NRW have done some ‘restructuring’ effectively putting the trails under recreation and the centre under commercial so it could be that they’re going to get a private investor in to run the cafe and centre - that way NRW have no outlay for wages etc I wondered if ...

Re: Anyone use a foam mat instead of a air one

If I'm walking I recently tried out a Z-lite which was surprisingly comfy, the same weekend though, I woke up in the middle of the track whilst having a break so I think I could've slept anywhere I was so tired.
On the bike is use a Klymit air mat in the summer and an Exped down mat in the winter

Poly cotton proofing?

Got a poly cotton smock, not for riding in, more for walking the dogs in.
Doesn’t have any DWR on it so in a shower yesterday it got quite damp.
Has anyone used the Nikwax cotton proof with any success for this type of garment?

Interested in the ascent if it’s not gone. Shaf currently has first dibs ;-) Messaged back. Just let me know the total bill including postage pls Colin. Taylor, I have a Hunka XL which I bought just a few weeks ago. Let me know if it's any use to you. Just one usage on pebbles (but laid on the Neoa...

Re: Scottish Winter Bivvy 9th/10th December

There's a slim chance I might make it from Bristol.
My dad's taken a fall and broke a few ribs, he's in Carlisle so might go for a visit then slope off on the Saturday.

Nice clear night for it good luck. I'll keep an eye out for you in the morning. Thank you - did you mean keeping an eye out here on the forum, or were you actually there there? So, I've done it, it was brilliant, and yes it was just perfect weather, clear night with a full moon, followed by wall to...

Re: Winter Hammocking

Underquilt porotector would make a significant improvement to the bottom insulation. Grizz beak doors will also make a difference. I've got some new ones that have never been used if you're interested in them? I bought them in preparation for a winter then went and bought a tarp with built in doors....

No Bikepacking trips planned but a fortnight of gravel over the Christmas jollies in the canaries.
Got to spend my birthday watching my son being crowned National judo champion though.
