Winter ride

Hardly a big adventure, hardly an epic or "new" ride but with a snowfall forecast for the night I quickly decided to go out and set off in the morning along a route I had ridden before a few times during summer. The Peak District was covered in snow and I struggled to recognise even the fa...

Re: The Tor Divide - bikepacking challenge across the Peak District

Re: Bikepacking / ITT specific coaching.

Wishing him all the best, I think there's definitely a market for it, including people looking to be competitive and perhaps winning ultra races, as well as people approaching the discipline for the first time and keen to get to the start line prepared. Considering one could easily spend over £1000 ...

Re: BB200 2023

With hindsight it was a blessing I couldn't take part as my bike at the time was a cx bike. I really did not fully appreciate what I was signing up to 2022 had a lot less paddling Perhaps I would have finished it anyway....although I doubt it. I had never ridden in the night nor for more than 12-13...

I haven't watched Part 2 yet but.....are they super strong and making it look too easy or are they skipping the notorious boggy sections on video?? This has made me considering entering in 2024  Looks like the film crew couldn't be bothered trekking into the tough bits.... Sorry i was referrin...

Re: Veneto Trail 2023 anyone else!

It's on my list for next year.
Tempted to take it as a race to push myself but would not want to miss some of those views (isnt that the same for most races though)

Anyone else planning to sign up?
60€ is a pretty reasonable price these days.
Not sure if the new organisers will bring in any changes.

Re: BB200 Oct 2023 VIDEO recap - A rookie mistake(?)

I absolutely loved this edit. Mrs liked it too. I’ve watched it a couple of times now, it’s reminded me how hard it was this year. Feeling sick on the route didn’t help either. It was a pleasure to meet you and have a bit of a chat for a while, until I fell to bits. Just as well I was solo for that...

Re: BB200 2023

I signed up to BB200 in 2022 and then found myself between jobs about a month before the event. I hope my spot got filled and I really appreciated Stuart refunding me for it. Thank you Sir. With hindsight it was a blessing I couldn't take part as my bike at the time was a cx bike. I really did not f...

Re: The Tor Divide - bikepacking challenge across the Peak District

Just a quick note to say that there's still a handful of discounted tickets available on the website until the 25th. If you enter before the 25th you'll also be able to enter the giveaway for a Redshift shockstop stem. It has saved my wrists on multiple occasions and I really recommend it. Good luck!

Re: BB200 Oct 2023 VIDEO recap - A rookie mistake(?)

I'd tend to agree, but I think the blue badge is a nice "consolation prize" for someone missing out on the black badge (which could easily happen due to mechanicals, etc).
It's also a good target for someone who absolutely needs a nap and is not able to carry on through the night.

Re: The Tor Divide - bikepacking challenge across the Peak District

Hahhaha I'll clarify: the route is entirely rideable (there might be the odd gate or fence that requires lifting the bike) but there will be bits where i expect several people to walk due to the terrain, tiredness, weight of bikepacking set up etc. It's not meant to be a crazy hard route, and i want...

Thank you!

And no, I hope it doesn't disappoint anyone but the route is mostly rideable

Re: The Tor Divide - bikepacking challenge across the Peak District

Entered as I missed the early bird, slightly disappointed in the lack of a discount code  Hi that's great news, thanks for signing up to the event! The early bird tickets are heavily discounted to reward ppl for taking a "leap of faith on a new and obscure event, but there's still a 10% ...

Re: BB200 2023

There were a couple of instances where I found myself (together with others) on the wrong side of a fence but bang on where the GPS wanted me/us. One time i/we turned back and found where we missed the nice gravel path. Another time there wasn't any option other than going over the fence and joining...

Indeed. Allen is a great lad and it's funny where you'd meet him on your travels (saw him during a work/job in the Lakes - felt surreal but it was him after having slept in the Lakes). Definitely can identify with what you said at the end, that what kind of stupid ride was that without clear trails...

That crazy shitty / muddy bit where Alan complains... could have been worse, I went all the way down the hill there. I'm glad I arrived right when people were finding ways to go past it and decided to go for the fence rather than gate. In hindsight, it all got washed by the rivers anyway hah...

Re: BB200 2023

Here's a little video from the BB200 for your entertainment.

I'm hardly a Youtuber but while riding I remembered another gravel rider/youtuber left in tears by the event.
The only difference is that I didn't record myself crying hahah
