Re: Trailmech hubs

No, but a mate has a coupleof pairs from Silt wheels and they've impressed, including a crash replacement rim. https://siltmtb.com/products/xc-carbon-29-1-272g Another really good price but not much info on the hubs. Has he had them for a while? Weight and width look good, although I'm not too sure...

Re: Who'd have thunk it, an interesting article on Road.cc?

I'll start caring about the environment as soon as big corporations, useless self -serving politicians and pontificating billionaires like Musk, Bezos and Gates actually pull their heads out of their arses and stop hypocritically lecturing normal people about how they're killing the planet! ...

Trailmech hubs

Hi All,

I'm looking to possibly replace my wheels and I came across Zolla wheels and their Poltava wheels
https://zolla.cc/product/poltava-29er-wheels/

I was wondering if anyone here has first hand experience with them and/or with Trailmech hubs.

Re: Who'd have thunk it, an interesting article on Road.cc?

why we did it. Money, greed. power, entitlement, stupidity ... am I close? Trouble is, even when under the guise of green, we continue to play the same games ... there's a new proposal to erect a windfarm (they now call them energy parks) on the hills opposite the Star Inn (a place many of you will...

Shameless UP to get some visibility to the event :)

I'm hoping to be able to share some good news soon.

Re: Who'd have thunk it, an interesting article on Road.cc?

If one TRULY cares about the environment, they shouldn't organise a long distance ultra-racing event. Regardless on the travel policy to get to the start. There's nothing sustainable in cycling 15hrs/week and wearing out components, traveling via car/plane/boat to an event in a different continent, ...

Re: Atlas race underway.

Justinas has finally caught up with Drikus.

Some insane pace that...although based on previous years, I wouldn't be surprised if they both collapse and Ube ends up winning it.

Hats off to Cynthia Carson, she's smashing it

Re: BB200 is pure, soft, GRAVEL

Thanks both!!! I can't say I was particularly lucid right after the event, my brain struggles enough with having a conversation in normal conditions (English isn't my first language as you can probably tell) nevermind when I'm knackered. I don't like recording myself but I'm glad I did it, it will r...

Re: BB200 is pure, soft, GRAVEL

I should add that if I got anyone's name wrong in the text I'm terribly sorry, my brain has tried hard to erase any memories from that day! (and my memory is pretty poor anyway)

It was great to meet everyone I bumped into during the ride, including those not mentioned in the article.

BB200 is pure, soft, GRAVEL

As far as click-bait goes I think only writing s3x/p0rn/etc would top that title....apologies for being cheeky! Now that I have your attention: I took part to BB200 back in October to raise some money for a friend, husband, dad, former basketball captain/team-mate and converted mountain biker Piotr ...

Re: Ultralightweight saddlebag harness - dropper post compatible

The profiles are cut from a 1.5mm Polypropylene sheet. I was hoping to be able to order a A3 sized sheet to cut a profile, but that is considered too small of an order and suppliers (well, the ones I managed to find) apply a hefty surcharge on top of the price. Hence why I had to order way more than...

Re: Ultralightweight saddlebag harness - dropper post compatible

:o well that looks familiar! And I don't just mean the Wayward Riders Louise - I started making my own harness based on the same, though with a few changes, over a year ago now and I've got several prototypes sat gathering dust ( ). If I weren't also invested, not quite so much financially a...

Re: Ultralightweight saddlebag harness - dropper post compatible

If you care about weight savings, this harness saves you about 300gr over traditional saddlebag solutions. I've scanned your text twice and I can't see an actual weight for what you have created? My Wildcat harnesses and basic Alpkit drybags save over 300g over a "traditional saddlebag" i...

Re: Ultralightweight saddlebag harness - dropper post compatible

Great work, it looks really good.. I made a similar but more basic superlight saddle holster with rubberised tarp fabric (Ortlieb type) and webbing a few years ago, it worked ok but I did think at the time that plastic would be better/easier to use than the tarpaulin. And I like the seat post attac...

Ultralightweight saddlebag harness - dropper post compatible

This is hardly the best time to sell bikepacking bags, let alone the time to start making a small batch of them with so many online shops offering crazy discounts. However! After my branded harness failed during BB200 I thought it would be fun to produce a saddlebag harness myself, and save myself s...

Re: Happy New Year, and plans for 2024

HHhah I just saw the replies to the "20K ultra", I'm afraid I haven't won the lottery so no, it's not 20 thousand pounds but rather 20000m of elevation. In fact, it should now be called 25k as after the first editions the organiser has decided to add 200km and 5000m to the original route. ...

Re: Happy New Year, and plans for 2024

Happy New Year! 2023 was pretty good cycling-wise so it'll be hard for 2024 to match it, but the potential is there. The only firm plans are: - Tor Divide (Peak District, see more info below) - aiming for everyone to have a good time - 20K Ultratrail (italian/French alps) - aiming to finish/survive ...

Winter ride

Hardly a big adventure, hardly an epic or "new" ride but with a snowfall forecast for the night I quickly decided to go out and set off in the morning along a route I had ridden before a few times during summer. The Peak District was covered in snow and I struggled to recognise even the fa...
