Re: On the scrounge for some vintage mags.

No problem I'll give you a few classics, Boardman v Obree etc

What's the best way to get them to you? I work in Manchester and can potentially drop them off

Re: Bike packing full suspension frame/ bike recommendations

There are some killer deals here on aluminium ones
Other than the rims name and a paint job is there a difference between the 2022 and the 2023?

Seriously tempted by the 22 as it seems a steal

Had a turner sultan (well still have technically) and liked the DW link

Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...

The thing with Kona's is, I never rode one that was rubbish to ride
The coke can tube wall thickness on my big unit was a joke, didn't last a year and they refused to warranty it

Brand to avoid for me

Bike packing full suspension frame/ bike recommendations

Looking for recommendations for a full suspension bike for HT550 and similar challenging routes, I know you can ride anything but looking for something to complement my cutthroat Rider is 6'3", not light, uses combination of bar/seat/ frame bags normally and or an aeroe rack, frame ideally suit...

Re: Is this 'bikepacking'?

Well that's immaterial, trouble with the UK cyclists is they the love to invent niche stuff and then have my tribe is better wars on the net This is actively encouraged by the cycling orientated media outlets and brands I have done a lots of things on various types of bikes none of which define me ...

Re: Aeroe rear rack thoughts

I could be wrong though?
Are on about tailfin or aeroe?

I have the aeroe pannier rack, the only difference to the spider is the top plate which works with panniers

The failure I am refering to is of carbon frames with aeroe racks fitted

Re: Happy 'International Beaver Day'

having previously been here other than they were on the Mainland and 7000 years ago we were connected to the Mainland As you were connected to the mainland for 6000 years after the ice sheets retreated it may be a fair assumption that at the time of separation beavers were on the island, how long t...

Re: Happy 'International Beaver Day'

I'll have to see what happened to the proposal to introduce them here.
There seems to be a well organised guerrilla group helping with reintroductions hence beavers being found in places where they haven't been officially reintroduced

I own one, happy to have it on my steel and alloy frames, won't be fitting it to the Cuthroat

Re: Aeroe rear rack thoughts

I put my seat bag on the top plate of my pannier version. Any robust dry bag will be fine, use long tpu straps to hold it in place.

Run it with a single pannier for commuting down that canal

Re: Aeroe rear rack thoughts

I have the pannier rack version

It's great for switching between frames but is heavy, it slipped once loaded asymmetrically but that could be down to not rechecking the tightness of the bolts

Some failures allegedly on carbon frames, I'm fine with it on my steel and alloy frames

Fair enough, but just thought I'd add some balance. I've met Mark and Chipps and they were at neither end of the knobhead>>legend continuum. In my experience one comes across as disengaged and the other definitely occupies one end of that spectrum, he's probably offered to fight as seems his style

Re: Proposed Wind Farm near Glaslyn

If that means putting wind farms on top of every hill in the country then that's what we have to do. I cycled through what was at the time of construction the largest land based windfarm in England today and it wasn't turning nor were all the other wind farms I saw on the skyline Wind isn't reliabl...

Re: Proposed Wind Farm near Glaslyn

The biomass/wood power stations are particularly bad, as I think they rely heavily on imported fuel from North America. One in Cumbria I am aware of from a few years ago was trying to be reliant on their waste and local short rotation coppiced willow, the willow having significant positive side eff...
