I think that all this practice I am getting is paying off because I actually slept for a few hours this time - result
Decent earplugs make a big difference if you feel safe enough where you have stopped

Also very useful if the person you cuddle up to snores

Re: WTD 29er plus wheelset or rims

Prefer a proper boost hub rather than an adapted one and don't need the tyre

But if there isn't much about I'll probably be back

WTD 29er plus wheelset or rims

Looking to run 29x3.0 to stop sinking in moorland bogs

Boost, 15mm 110m front, 142 rear HG or microspline

Ideally steel rear axle or convertible with a readily available spare

Or rims as I can do a shoddy build

Ideally not too expensive

Thanks

Re: Pain and suffering

My legs currently look like they have been shot blasted then flailed with barbed wire thanks to a few recent rides through trails overgrown with broom, gorse and sitka branches. But last nights ride home took this to new levels - a trail totally grown in with bracken, gorse, broom and the dreaded b...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

think us oldies were put off ally frames after riding things like the old 'dale 3.0 and 2.8 series which had not one mm of flex I have a section of a Kona Big Unit which is not much better than old coke can thickness, unsurprisingly failed, Kona refused a warranty replacement Not lost a steel frame...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

Those Olsen's are now £525! Including the gravel frame

He's added some flat bars as well

Typical PlanetX style price drop caught me out

Mine has arrived, looks very nice but no headtube badge nor rear through axle which I'll query.

T47x92 bb's look expensive any recommendations?

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

I think the fractures were always at the weld, right! One fail I saw on a Jenn Ride was the plate at the rear dropout, the plate had failed not the weld Chain stays were another area some frames went at I checked the olsen website out and he's still flogging them at full price Is it possible these ...

Get a three prong https://www.exposurelights.com/products/3-prong-action-camera-mount-to-exposure-cleat And a cheap go pro mount kit, I'm sure you can find a better one than this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/395422762599?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=njje0ofwszg&sssrc=...

Re: BB200 2024

2.35 and 2.25 weren't that narrow, have now put 2.6 on the front, I didn't see anyone riding the moor crossing (probably because they were well ahead of me they were that good). Was probably mid packish and saw people behind until I hit the better part of the descent to SF. Many who did well were on...

Once again, very encouraging. I wish I was as fast as others who manage to get to places in the light! You are probably younger, fitter and stronger than me with a far superior w/kg. BB200 is about the head and looking after yourself and the bike. Stop worrying about what you can't control and get ...

Re: BB200 2024

I didn't find Strata Florida as bad as the moorland section before it. The moorland just had me wishing for a fat bike, I followed the gpx quite tightly which meant some interesting pushes, had a brief stop to sort myself out and put warm clothes on before the descent to SF but then it went dark on...

Re: BB200 2024

I disagree, it was a challenge, I could have got back in time for one of the badges but was broken psychologically as it was so different to 2022 and it was also an immense physical strain as doing it in the dark meant so much more wasted effort Some people completed in 15 hours iirc, Expectations h...

Re: BB200 2024

Imagine a land rover track and river that flow in the same general direction but cross each other every 50 to 100m. Then add in considerable rainfall in the preceding week so deep and fast flowing water and in the puddles muddy water so you were playing russian roulette with the depth (pedal, bb, hu...

No words but not sure who the organisers are trying to impress?!
It's that group of overachievers that climb Everest, do adventure racing and other such activities that tend to be exclusive by virtue of the cost
