Re: BB200 2024

Best psych myself up like Eddie Hall (the idiot... but they'd call us that!?) before he lifted half a tonne and had a mini stroke (kind of). For me it's "trundle, trundle, just keep trundling along " I'm woefully under prepared so it's all about moving efficiently and consistently followi...

Gonna keep training with an 'in' head and see.how I get on..
I think you are overthinking it, turn up with the kit you are supposed to carry, ride, be sensible, anything less than 36 hours is a victory, anything else is a day or so on the bike

My training has been rubbish this year, so was wobbling

Then realised that it's just a challenge against myself, finishing or not is fine

So I'm still going

Just get off and push Shaff. You are still making progress but giving contact points and legs a rest. Moving slow is better than not moving at all!

I always add a elastic band or bobble to reduce the chances of losing it off the bag, don't ask why I found this to be important

Re: BB200 2024

I'm all up for remoteness and wilderness and I'm not asking for sag wagons  but hike a bike for the sake of it (i.e. when there are perfectly good alternatives) just isnt fun for me. I did the winter event and having no friends and not knowing the area randomly plotted a route. On return I co...

Re: BB200 2024

If someone had broken an ankle or something in the tussocks last year it would have made for a long cold night and a search party on sunday night Unfortunately instant rescue isn't a feature of wild places, on bb200 and 300 you should be carrying enough kit to comfortably bed down and avoid hypothe...

Yes, I weighed the cylinder I'm filling to make sure it wasn't over filled. Put the cylinder that you want to fill in the freezer for a bit. Works great as far as I can tell I also found some high quality butane propane mix at the local independent DIY place to use for fills Mine was a fleabay special

Re: CyB and Nant Yr Arian closing ...

Indeed, I was told something in the region of 250k and 300k a year loss at CyB. As with anything in the public sector it will be interesting to see why that loss is generated. I suspect a large chunk is overhead and capital costs for works being lumped on it If they shut it they'll still need to lo...

Re: Pidcock!

I get the feeling that a lot of the XC types are focusing more on out and out strength rather than technical ability - the number of wipe outs on the World champs course last year seemed to bear this out.. I think it's the opposite, world cup courses are getting more technical and so are the riders...
