Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
So I did a couple of sleepouts earlier this month while circumnavigating the Capital Trail as described by vegancheese a few days ago. Although there wasn't much sleep going on from my point of view - I'm still not very good at the sleeping part. I'm hoping I'll get better at it. The three days were...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
Congratulations on your 100 Reg - great write up too. Makes me realise I need to get more café stops into my rides. Was hoping Vegancheese would do a full write up of our March BaM trip so I could chill, but, no - he wrote 2 lines. I put my intention of doing a longer ride for my March BaM out there...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
Some amazing BAM rides going on up and down the country but mine isn't one of them. Weather, lurgy and general lassitude means I have barely ridden my bike this month and I did wonder if my BAM hopes might come to an end after one. Last night, however, I managed to drag my weary body and neglected b...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
Hi all, new to the forum, had fun on the WRT last year. Late entry for the January bivvy: Jan Bivvy.jpg My first solo bivvy Present me did not want to do this right now, but future me needs the experience for July's Pan Celtic Race 2024 (and beyond!). Did I overthink everything to do with this? Yes...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
January bivvy done on Saturday night. Cycled up to a local reservoir hoping for the frosty starry night forecast. Got wet drizzly clag instead. Home in time for breakfast. Should have gone on the Winter Bivvy - photos on FB look amazing. Maybe next year....

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
and note that "bivvying" comprises a very wide range of 'facilities' to suit all tastes, from the traditional ditch up to a variety of commodious sheds/barns/hovels/etc. It's perfectly possible to rough it without actually, er, roughing it, if you so desire.... 'Facilities' are rather sca...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024
I feel like I ought to give this a go as I don't have any big plans for this year and I really fancy the badge. It'll be quite a challenge to complete the first few months as I'm not keen on riding in the dark or the cold, in fact I'm not that keen on bivvying either....

Re: Bikepacking / ITT specific coaching.
For me, employing a coach to help me prepare for the HT550 this year was definitely money well spent. I had previously trained by riding more and harder, but found that this only worked to a certain extent. In order to get round the HT in under 8 days (my aim) I knew I would need to be able to ride ...

Re: New BB jerseys - pre-order one now.
Mrs Polisheman has done her usual shaking of her head at the word "unisex", which means doesn't fit anyone with child bearing hips... Tell her I apologise but woman's specific tend to work out very expensive - they're a different jersey to begin with and a small run inflates the co...
