Re: Calder divide this week anyone ?

Glad to see you're making plans for next year Adrian, it really was a great event so I'll be looking forward to next year's extended route. Pleased to see I look as awkward as ever on the website  I imagine you needed the rest more than I needed the pie  Hi John That's a cracking picture...

Re: Calder divide this week anyone ?

Hi John That's a cracking picture of you. Big smile. Holding a lovely new patch. Hopefully this one doesn't go in your bottom draw! I earnt a green badge by completing the route - all three of them over different weekends - and its on the bookshelf in my front. But I didn't manage to do the long rou...

Re: Calder divide this week anyone ?

Good stuff! Did you manage to get a beer/pie and peas last night? I rode the long route in one hit but it was all locked up when I arrived back. Fortunately I dont live far away so had a beer at home instead :-bd Really enjoyed it! Super friendly with great organisation and communications. ...

Re: Calder divide this week anyone ?

The shorter route options plus optional campsite + bag drop hopefully appealed to less experienced riders, or at least will do in future. Not only inexperienced riders. Some people just want to have a fun. relaxed , sociable weekend and don't feel the need to turn every event into an FKT p1ssing co...

Re: Calder divide this week anyone ?

Agreed, it was really well organised and everyone involved was super friendly. I went on my own and, although I dropped out part way, when I got back to Mytholmroyd after just a few hours, I was given a lovely welcome back, and a really friendly chat, and lots of positivity. I'm really hoping this ...

Re: Calder Divide Trail

It's a fine line we tread between appearing to be a fun sponge and having a genuine concern for the organiser who may be blissfully unaware of the pitfalls of the rights of way legislation in England and Wales which are imo totally unfit for use. Reminds me of an off road duathlon I took part in ab...

Re: Calder Divide Trail

Yeah, any type of event and you really do need to strive to not only make it 100% legal but also avoid the potential for conflict ... you may still find there's a certain amount but knowing it's legal gives you the high ground. I'm 100% into making a trail legit and avoiding possible conflict with ...

Re: Calder Divide Trail

Just had a quick look at some of the route and it uses a fair bit of footpath. If people want to devise routes for their own use that use footpaths then thats down to them but to publish a route and organise an event on it, regardless of how worthy the charity, is in my oppinion uterlly irresponsab...

Re: Calder Divide Trail

Looks good to me and for a very good cause! Mostly very familiar trails as I'm placed somewhere in the middle of the circuit, within striking distance of the Overgate hospice in Elland. Although some of the flatter stuff east of Dewsbury will be new for me. I'd like to make the mass start but it's ...

Re: Calder Divide Trail

the north wind: "Good to see the name "divide" being used in its true geographical sense, rather than a trendy name for "route"" - I agree. Its my opinion that a route should reflect its true nature, purpose or 'spirit'. The BB 200, the King Alfred Way and the Hebridean...

Re: Calderdale Divide Trail

There's a Facebook page with a background story, news and pictures of ace bike trails on the CDT.

And a picture of our logo which I'd post on here but can't work out how to put an image on the forum!

Re: Calderdale Divide Trail

Morning folks Good to see the buzz around a new bikepacking route and event. Its basically a mini Bear Bones 200. But in West Yorkshire. After doing the BB 200 in October last year, I came home and thought I could put together something like that and benefit Overgate Hospice. I choose the hospice as...

Re: BB 200 OS Explorer maps

When I was in Keswick recently the Oxfam shop had a whole bunch of old OS maps for mid Wales so I picked up a 7 sheets. Hopefully when the BB 200 route gets put up Ill be able to plot it on the sheets. Better use of time than another Netflix series! Is there a date when the October BB 200 will go ou...

Etrex 22x

HI folks I'm a newbie to the BB site and i've only biked long distance trails with paper maps! Went from Fort Augustus over Torridon up to Ullapool and onto Cape Wrath with OS maps in my bag but think i should join the 21st C with a Garmin. Ive got a place on the October BB 200 as a wanted a new cha...
