Re: Hot and bothered

Do you actually sweat Karl? Dee doesn't sweat and doesn't regulate well when it gets hot. She functions okay and likes the warm weather but needs to shed layers very quickly and very early on otherwise she just overheats ... she also needs to put them back on quite quickly once she slows / stops.

I'd just fit a tensioner, try it and see if you like it. SS isn't for everyone.

Re: Thinking SS...

would it mean carrying of extra tools for puncture duties (wheel removal/slackening chain/angle).
Generally just an allen key required. The only ebb I've had that required any special tools was a Pipedream.

Re: I realise I'm preaching to the converted but ...

The link is cars/car parking off-road. Anywhere with car access means increased litter Yep, same is often true of bothies James. Problem is, you don't know they're dirty until they've gone and left all the crap behind? I suppose some will make the mess as they go but here it's turn up, camp/drink/i...

Re: I realise I'm preaching to the converted but ...

I do like the idea of labeling this behaviour as dirty camping rather than calling it wild camping which tars many of us with the same shitty brush. That's a very good point. Also good that the mainstream press are able to distinguish between the two. I'm just reading a book about the 'Ministry of ...

Yeah, I grow oaks from acorns and then plant them out Reg. Done some Scots pine too, I love Scots pine, a very underrated tree I find.

Re: What's the weekend got in store?

... and now, it will be a weekend of one handed limping. Firstly I managed to stick something in the back of my left hand which appears to have done something quite odd to the nerves in it. Then, I walked straight into a steel post at quite a pace, resulting in the worst dead-leg I've ever had ... w...

Re: Waterproofs

Sport Pursuit usually have them on a fairly regular basis Neil but obviously that may not continue if Columbia are changing models. They are a weird jacket - they both look and feel quite 'cheap' but that's the nature of the material and nothing to do with quality of manufacture. Some people do talk...

Re: The post man's been ...

A pair of Teravail Cumberland tyres in 27.5 x 2.8 flavour arrived for review. Not by usual type of tyre but they look like they could be very good for mixed conditions ... we'll see.

Ooh and some odds and ends for my supercharger came too.

What's the weekend got in store?

Last bank holiday before Christmas  , so what's in store? I'm home alone from 8.00am this morning until late Monday night so once I've finished packing orders and done a post run, I might attempt the task or sorting out my workshop. I've being putting it off for some time but now seem to have ...

Re: Waterproofs

Is this the same fabric do you reckon? It looks very similar Neil - just more expensive. It would appear that the lighter / stretchy outdry jackets might not breath (or perhaps vent) quite as well as the EX Gold etc. Can't say for certain but I've got the EX Gold like John and have found it great. ...

As I'm not really a gambling man, I gave up on SP and switched to Shimano. Not as pretty or as light but I've had no problems since I changed and they are generally cheaper too.

The cuben bonding tape works very well Eric, so well that in many cases there's no need to actually sew cuben.

Re: I realise I'm preaching to the converted but ...

Like most sensible folk, this is something that troubles me but it's difficult to know how things could be changed. I've said in the past that everyone, be they individual, company or concern that promotes and encourages people outside, has a duty to also promote best practice. It's something that f...
