Re: The post man's been ...

a Sea to Summit Cinder Down Quilt from their sale. I'd tried the Alpkit quilt before and found it too cold (seems it is generally poorly reviewed) so hopefully this is one works better for when I don't want to take my sleeping bag. The bags and info leaflets it comes with are quite nice :) @yourgui...

Opposite end of spectrum to Jameso's post but these carbon forks look to be a good price https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/p/r ... -bike-fork
Triple pack mounts, internal dynamo routing, decent clearance (700x45)

With some 100mm (Boost) 29er Reba's from the Alpkit Outlet eBay store. Then Evri dropped off a parcel from CRC, with a Lifeline shock pump (for £6.99!) plus some Prime Orra flared bars to get free postage :-bd cheapest I've seen them at £29.99. Crown race and star nut fixing tool due for delivery to...

Re: Swapping out rigid & suspension forks...?

@Hyppy - how do you rate the reba's? They do the job nicely. I'm no suspension aficionado though, so couldn't tell you what I miss out on from more expensive options. My choice was largely weight-based, and I couldn't justify the few hundred quid more to save a few hundred grams by going with SIDs....

Re: Swapping out rigid & suspension forks...?

Thanks for the replies all. I was originally going to a Huntsman from PX when on offer a month or so ago, to add a MTB to the stable, but couldn't justify the cost (though did look to be a bargain). Therefore thoughts turned to converting the 29er to a bouncy hardtail. It may be partly scratching an...

Swapping out rigid & suspension forks...?

Have been been thinking about some 100mm suspension forks for my rigid Silk Road 29er, with the idea that I'd swap out for hardtail play days in the woods, and rougher routes. TBF I'd been waiting for a short Redshift stem to come along, but they're still not released yet. Does anyone swap forks reg...

Re: Newbie bikepacking tent advice

I just picked up a Lanshan 1 "copy" from Nightcat. Lots of reviews on YouTube. Again, it's a (single) trekking pole tent, but I use a 125cm carbon pole for it. Got it for a little over £100 as they had a 20% discount offer. Site was Chinese-based but the tent arrived only 2 days later from...

Re: PSA On One Huntsman GX Eagle £899

@fatbikephil that may have been the SX model with a Judy Silver fork. GX and Gold 35 SL thingy wotsit fork sounds like a decent £200 upgrade...the fork alone looks to be around £350 on other sites and equivalent to older Revelations...

PSA On One Huntsman GX Eagle £899

Is this a good deal? Not had a MTB for years and was hankering for a singlespeed (has sliding dropouts), this says clearance for 2.8 29er tyres and kitted out with GX Eagle and RockShox 35 Gold RL DebonAir 29" BOOST Fork. Any good for £899‽ ...with a dropper post and delivery just over a grand...

@voodoo_simon. Agree about a bottle being too wide (though have successfully fitted a small tool keg in a bottle cage with a Wolftooth off centre adaptor). I currently use mine like this: https://i.postimg.cc/8PbZJyYL/PXL-20230607-185928963.jpg Topeak Morph pump one side, and Stanley hip flask on th...

Re: PlanetX going bust?

Yep, real shame. Love my Ti Silk Road, and had some small forks bags & cages when cheap, all very functional and keenly priced. Still smarts a bit that they did the Silk Road for under a grand not so long ago, as paid a bit more than that...you have to wonder how much the yo yo pricing might hav...
