Re: The post man's been ...

Dropped off a couple of IRC Boken Plus 650b tubeless tyres from Bananaindustries.co.uk. fairly heavy but thought worth a punt at £20 each. First went up with track pump and still holding air without sealant, 2nd seemed a bit misshapen so now sitting in the warm with a tube fitted to see if this help...

Following up on the Santiago frame post, the extra thru Axles and FSA Orbit headset also arrived yesterday: https://i.postimg.cc/905SMBWs/PXL-20250330-113732294.jpg ...but, the headset didn't have a top cap and looks like I've been sent two lower frame inserts, meaning the logo is upside down when f...

Re: Buffalo special 6 replacement

Montane Extreme owner here, but I do find it very warm so only comes out on really cold days. I find I get on better with jackets with a Polartec Alpha Direct lining; same concept but wicks better for me so much more comfortable. Saw this on Sportspursuit the other day that looks good: https://www.s...

Re: The post man's been ...

Dropped off the last (sorry) Rab Alpha Flash jacket from Sportspursuit. Took a while to arrive as not one of their "ready to send" items. Made from polartec alpha with no lining, bit like a Senchi Designs open weave alpha hoodie, but has no hood and heavier weight 120 Alpha, and half the p...

Can't include a link for some reason, but Planet X are doing front and rear Sram Rival mechanical shifters (1x11, not hydro brakes) for £19.99 an end, so £39.98 plus postage. I bought some a while back and mine also came with cables. They weren't this cheap when I got them though!

Re: Durston X-Dome 1+

Just seen over at bikepacking.com that Dan Durston posted a reply to a few queries on pole length: The poles are about 17". The packed length spec is a bit conservative. We hope to add a bikepacking specific poleset later that would have more sections/shorter packed length. goes on to say short...

Re: Rigid to soft...tyre width Q

I recently swapped out the rigid forks on my Titus for some 100mm Reba RLs. I'll be honest in that they haven't been quite as 'plush' as I'd hoped, but maybe I haven't got them set up quite right. The clearance also seems quite tight with a 2.6" Mezcal. Latest plan is to put the Silk Road back ...

Re: Swapping out rigid & suspension forks...?

@Hyppy - how do you rate the reba's? They do the job nicely. I'm no suspension aficionado though, so couldn't tell you what I miss out on from more expensive options. My choice was largely weight-based, and I couldn't justify the few hundred quid more to save a few hundred grams by going with SIDs....

Re: Swapping out rigid & suspension forks...?

Thanks for the replies all. I was originally going to a Huntsman from PX when on offer a month or so ago, to add a MTB to the stable, but couldn't justify the cost (though did look to be a bargain). Therefore thoughts turned to converting the 29er to a bouncy hardtail. It may be partly scratching an...
