Re: Todays ride

To be fair, they didn't know where to turn. I met up with 4 of them and tried to get them to head to the river on the right where Mum was calling them. 1 made it quite quickly out the way. These 3 ended up walking the track and bang smack into a runner brandishing half a bush who'd been shoo-ing the...

Re: Not Quite The Lomond-Trossschs Loop

 Sean, it was bloody hot when I did it and there a few 'wtfs' and fair few stronger when I was going off-course a bit. If I'd kept on going off 50yds and heading more to the west I'd have been a fair bit away from the track. Luckily, the sloping gave away the right direction. I was pretty chuff...

On my recent trip, when letting the Wife know where I was camping, W3W had me in the middle of a loch...told her I was skinny-dipping.

Re: Not Quite The Lomond-Trossschs Loop

Cheers. It was mainly on the fly because I thought I'd struggle getting round the route and anticipated being in restricted areas when it was time to bed down, so it was kind of out of necessity. I'm still a complete noob at all this, so was trying to keep it within an arms reach of my comfort zone....

Not Quite The Lomond-Trossschs Loop

For a long while I’ve been planning to have a few days in Scotland, visiting the parents and also having a 3 day/2 night bikepacking trip. Originally, I’d intended to do this in June but for one reason or another, the 1st opportunity was in August. Some while back I’d posted about doing the West Hig...

Re: Using a smartphone instead of a Bike Computer

Thanks all for the replies and help. I've downloaded Komoot and Viewranger to try out and from 1st look they seemed easy enough to use. I should be able to give them a trial before I go. So, on the spot tracker...I'm thinking this is recommended to use when heading out and about? Am I right in think...

Well not so much Secret Gems as such as a lot around here is probably well known. Lovely coast, of course but I'm sure you're aware of that. Travel east or west for a lot of choice all the way round. Head to Sheringham for a quaint-ish little place by the Sea. Catch a steam train on The Poppy Line w...

Using a smartphone instead of a Bike Computer

Hello All I'm heading off to the Trossachs at the end of the month to have a go at Chris's Trossachs Loop, also completed by Sean. No real idea if I'm capable of completing the whole route in the time I've got but I'll give it a go and see where I end up. My main concern now is how to map the route....

Lol, good point. The People had to eat though, Reg, the people have to eat.

Surely, there will be a few people off cycling today with these looping around their head...no bad thing. Hawaii 5-0 adopted as the BB theme tune?

Thermorest Vesper quilt from Bergzeit came pain free and pretty quick. They did say duties iand VAT inc on the website, so wasn't really expecting any problems. Quilt was the last one I could.find anywhere (apart from maybe some outlets at much higher prices). So glad to have got it.

Ok, thanks for that, Dean. Very helpful. If the coast was busy at that time, it'll be packed in the summer. That was my fear. Your spot looks worthwhile searching out and I can look for a back-up too. Cheers again.

North Norfolk Coast

Evening All I am hoping for a bit of help choosing a good spot around Wells-Next-The-Sea on the North Norfolk Coast. There seem to be a few People from around the area on here, so I'm hoping to pick your brains for a suitable location to head to for the night. I had originally planned for Scotland f...

I was jealous of your new sleeping bag...I'm now jealous of your spreadsheet! Now that is dedication. Good point on the set-up. I'm trying to buy well 1st time so to avoid having to upgrade for a while. I'd justified spending on the corus at £170 but realistically might need to commit to that little...

Yes, that size and weight difference is impressive. My sleeping bag looks to be a similar size to your old one and I'm getting it at about 2kg. Definitely needs replacing. All a dilemma about which one. The things going for it are Father's day and it's bonus month for me. Things not going for me is ...

I've been watching this thread with interest as I'm also looing at upgrading my sleeping bag. I've a trekker Stealth 1 and I too find the entering/exiting awkward and I'm 5'5. Otherwise, I'm more impressed than I thought I was going to be with. Still learning to pitch it better though.
